Why is it always the Sony posts that have this much discussion from a lot of people who will never consider a Sony product, but their voices must be heard and everyone else must agree with their opinion.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2021I have a genuine question about this new shiny Xperia. Who ... moreThat is also the same thing everyone pointed out for the Xperia Pro "Who would spend 2500 on a phone??"
Xperia Pro is then sold out.....it seems as if Sony looks like they know who will buy their products and their prices are justifiable to the niche group that they're targeting
It sux that Sony is making profit cuz now everyone who actually wants them to quit won't have anything to justify why they should leave... bcuz u know... profits
Good job hating on a phone you're not interested in and would never buy and because youre not buying it no one else should.

famakate, 29 Oct 2021If it just was 1300$ and had Qi charging. This phone..... was not built with any of us 'average consumers' in mind none of us are spending this much on a phone if we're not going to be fully utilising every part of that 1800 price tag
But for the ones who will benefit from it (content creators/bloggers etc) they will find a use for it to get their moneys worth if they buy it.
Not sure if any serious content creator cares that much about wireless charging and also that.... you're asking them to reduce the price and ADD another component to this device which already offers waaaay more than every other phone (but still it's not targeted to compete in the general market it's a speciality device intended for special use so if we're not the intended consumer why does it matter what our opinions are
Sony is being Sony and doing a great job of being Sony

Anonymous, 27 Oct 2021If all apps had support for 4K, screen would not work 2560... moreFirst of all the display wasn't running 4k where it should have, no 120hz where it should have because of overheating problem.....nothing to do with apps that support 4k.
Your Xperia software is completely half baked. Nobody buys Sony, so their team didn't even bother working on software part.
Dropping resolution did save battery, even gsmarena tested and got better battery on certain phones after resolution drop (maybe your Xperia battery management is as terrible as its batterycare feature, so you didn't notice difference)
We trust end-users over anonymous guys afraid to disclose the ancient phone they are stuck on or their location in order to save face from being exposed as a troll.

The photos are very good with plenty of details, natural colors and impressive dynamic range. The post processing is good unlike oversharpening that we see in other phones because it will allow for more room for editing. Definitely one of the best cameraphone but still effective sensor size is not exactly 1 inch as mentioned in the review. Still, I would rather invest in a good DSLR instead of this phone and maybe still save decent money for partying. 😁

I have a genuine question about this new shiny Xperia. Who on earth is this for?
I am a casual/semi pro photographer. I use a6600 during the weekends when I go for a walk or hiking, but whenever I encounter the moments I do not want to miss I use my Pixel 5a to capture the moments, even if the image quality isn't really amusing. Also I use it when I believe phone cameras will produce more SNS ready photos, or I don't have time for transferring raw to my phone for quick editing.
I have been using numerous Sony cameras for over 10 years so I know I could quickly get used to Xperia Pro-I's manual mode(I will just call it Xperia from here onwards). But. Why would I ever want to operate my phone exactly in the same way as I do my camera, when I already have that camera which can also shoot photos at much higher quality at the same time?
Smartphone cameras are all about convenience factors. That is why smartphone cameras evolved in a way that users can take nice photos by just tapping the shutter button. This phone seems like doing the opposite, telling users to spend as much time as they do for their cameras, but who would anyone even do that, right?
I have seen other comments here and I agree with everyone, I would rather get Mi 11 Ultra, Pixel 6 Pro or X70 Pro+ at much lower prices. Especially X70 Pro+, since I have watched Juan Bagnell's review on it and it looks like Vivo striked the nice spot right in between the dedicated cameras' customizability and smartphone cameras' convenience of shooting. Shoot in auto? 5 different color profile and tonemapping options! Shoot in manual mode? 10-frame stacked raw is available for highest editing flexibility!(Dear Sony, why don't you have the same option on your Xperia?) Still, taking a photo is one tap away! What does Xperia have? Eye AF? Burst shooting? Thanks Sony, but I would use my alpha if I needed those.
Sony's approach to the so called pro smartphone camera is so, so puzzling. They are targeting a small segment of smartphone market that has been largely eroded by Chinese phone makers. I believe some people do use manual mode and spend time on adjusting parameters(though I do not), but how many of them would absolutely need Xperia's manual mode over Vivo's or Xiaomi's, but would still not want Sony's dedicated cameras for more serious photography?
$1800 for a cropped sensor and feature sets that do little to differentiate itself from the rivals, to my eyes it looks like Sony is just trying to get rid of the large stock of 1 inch sensors in their inventory in any way they can. I love your products, Sony, but you cannot fool people who understand the true values of their tools.

Zwinter, 29 Oct 2021Mind boggling tbhSure, but the iPhone's cost at the time of removal was and still is 1000 Dollars without an HP jack, charger, and so on. This device is 1800 and I can buy a bunch of chargers, wireless headphones, and a bigger storage version for the difference.

This is a photography-centric phone with 1" sensor. It is more expensive than A7 III.
To give a better overview of the things that more affordable smartphones can do now, look at this:

For photography, sensor size affects IQ, but software optimization and AI can compensate for smaller sensors now.
