Sony Xperia Pro-I as a video camera

What is the highest fps setting for 720p ? Sony Website says 120 fps but that seems pretty weak. Most contenders can do real 480fps. I know the 2000fps from xiaomi are with AI Picture Rendering but at least 480 real FPS should be possible with this fast sensor and SOC.

    Anonymous, 30 Oct 2021You can control level of microphones. Do you know how much decibel it is capable of? My xperia xzs doenst do much more than 97-100db, over that, it distorts alot. That was problematic for Music recordings.

    Nokia and Iphone can do about 110-125 i think, never got those distorted ^^

      I think it would be less deceptive to say: "this uses a 12 mp segment of an old Sony camera sensor which requires more effort to use and offers less spontaneity. Focus is more art than science".

      Now I don't think thats necessarily fair exactly. But its more accurate than talking about a huge sensor it doesn't use. Which is frustrating to be kind. Fraudulent at worst.

      To be honest, unless I can get ahold of some proper samples of the photos and video, it looks to be from the materials on this review to be incrementally better maybe than my S20 ultra. Which is awful for many photos because of over-digital-sharpening and makes some pictures very unappealing. But maybe not even that for video.

      What about noise? Low light video? Is there any kind of indicator that its in focus?

      If you crop in on a photo I bet it goes to seed right away like any 12 mp photo does. So its not comparable to a real camera.

      I just sent back after a few hours the Pixel 6 Pro since its a really ordinary camera with a lot of gimmicks. Once you have shown the tricks it does to a few friends, your stuck with a camera that is no better than any flagship from 2020.

      I really hoped this PRO-I was, but the 12 MP thing has me skeptical.

      Is there a download link for actual output files with metadata intact for this phone? It would help a great deal to play with actual video and stills files.

              Quite jerky video. Meaning IPU is not capable. Ultrawide camera is pretty bad and no telephoto.

It's impressive what software can do but especially in the new cinema mode it's clear as day how horrible it can look too

                        Karthikybk, 31 Oct 2021As a photographer, I'd never like Sony to be compared ... moreI'm not quite sure what you mean, since Xperia's HDR and auto night mode processing in "Basic" shooting mode is exactly what falls under the category of computational photography.

                        On top of that, whatever the complaints you have for the colour rendering of the iPhone's camera, they are all caused by the post-processing only - if you take a look at a ProRAW file, you will see that the colours are not over the top (just like any RAW files).

In general iPhone is for those people who don't even have the basic understanding of photography. Dammm that yellowish leaves and red skin, literally kills the mood when you want to have a natural looking image like Sony.

                                  Mi 11 Ultra has the best 8k footage right now. Plus 8k/4k60 is available on all cameras.

Faces are all red for some reason and thin lines in the background such as trees against the sky have ghostings due to frame stacking.

                                      Sony finally finds its place at the throne...I wonder if they simply waited a decade for everyone to catchup first so they could simply let them know where the bar is really at with mobile phone cameras...?
