DaFink, 08 Apr 2022Not necessarily, it could just mean you have a need for it.... morePeople who are interested to buy phones don't necessarily visit websites specially for phone reviews, but it's very unlikely that they buy phones blindly. People don't walk into a phone shop and tell the seller to give them any phone. They just don't do that. If they do that, the seller will try to sell them the most expensive phone or the phone that is the most profitable for them to sell. It's very normal that they will do some research (most people don't call it that, but that doesn't matter) maybe by searching online, reading user reviews, checking average user ratings, or asking their friends or their family members. People are interested in specs even though they may not call them specs. For example, when people want to buy a TV, two specs they are interested in are the screen size and picture quality. They can judge the picture quality by seeing it themselves. Regarding phones, the screen size and battery life are among the first things people are interested in when they want to buy a phone.

I bought a toaster the other week, now whilst I did some brief research to try to get a decent toaster for the money I was willing to pay, I honestly can’t remember the last time I perused any websites dedicated to toasters specs, reviews and rumours out of sheer interest.

Believe it or not, but there are people in this world for whom smartphones are no more interesting than toasters.

DaFink, 08 Apr 2022Well we can’t all be as smart as you like to think you are ... moreI don't understand what you mean. If you want to buy a phone (or any product), it means that you're interested in it.

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2022A quick comparison to the iphone 8 battery life stats on GS... moreI’d take GSMArena’s battery stats with a grain of salt to be honest, they once praised the Galaxy S6’s battery life, and well…..they were somewhat off base on that one I can tell you.

As for all those points you mention, yeah you could waffle on about them for as long as you liked to the target audience for the SE, you only end up achieving two things, 1. You bore the p*ss out of said SE perspective buyers, and 2. You waste however much time it takes you to realise your wasting your time.

See they are most likely only going to be interested in one thing, is it an iPhone. Right after you say no, you’ll have lost them. Now I know what you are going to say, something about them getting a clue, levelling up their tech game and going Android etc. Oh you’ll be waxing lyrical about HRR, and multi cameras, and custom rooms and all that jazz. All the while they’ll have done that glazing over thing I mentioned earlier and be stood there hoping you’ll finally just give it a rest at some point.

Those to whom The SE sounds like a good deal just aren’t interested in the stuff you are going on about. Not really sure why that is so hard to understand. They want an iPhone, as cheap as possible, simple as. So can’t you just be happy with convincing yourself that they have made a mistake going for the SE, and you have somehow actually achieved something buying an Android?

Sure GSMA might've updated their testing in these past 5yrs at some point but it's still a (valid) comparison point.
And if you want to say that "It provides a similar/familiar experience" to their previous iphones for those who would be buying this shit, well I have nothing to say!
You can't understand the difference until you experience it yourself (be it longer battery life, faster charging, HRR, in-screen FPS, 'night mode' or anything else not related to tech)

Ommmgghh AGAIN apple iphone 6 and milions comments like WHY?? 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️
What is so interesting about this phone from year 2014 ?🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Whackcar, 08 Apr 2022Apple is just getting rid of their leftover last-gen invent... moreWhy? To what end? A ton of costly R&D, purchasing of new components, and re-tooling assembly lines for a device that will end up costing more and thus conflicting with the existing iPhone options.

No, this way Apple get to quickly produce a ‘new’ phone for those who simply want something similar to their current iPhone, Apple can also then claim to not be wasting any components through not ever using them, and keep the cost down as much as possible. And any one coming from an iPhone 8 or earlier is going to see an improvement to overall battery life.

Why is it so hard for you lot to understand that their are those out there who care nothing for bezel sizes or how many times the screen happens to refresh. They simply want a new version of what is already familiar to them.

Apple is just getting rid of their leftover last-gen inventory. There's nothing admirable about it.

This phone is seriously outdated on launch. Ancient design with oversized bezels. 60Hz screen. Tiny battery.

Apple could've done much better than this...

Anonymous, 07 Apr 2022You seem to underestimate the intelligence level of people ... moreWell we can’t all be as smart as you like to think you are now can we……….

And apparently having no interest in smartphones is somehow indicative of overall intelligence…..who knew eh 🤷

Anonymous, 08 Apr 2022All you're saying is that the target audience will bli... moreWell duh, you do realise there are people in this world for whom smartphones are simply tools right? They get bored when someone who frequents sites like this start droning on about specs and stuff like that. Seriously, find such a person and give it a try, and understand that the moment you see their eyes glaze over (which will be about 5 seconds tops after they realise your talking smartphone tech) that all the jargon your coming out with has simply been reduced to ‘yadda yadda yadda….’

If you are successful in convincing said person to stray from the path of least resistance (most likely just to get you to finally stop rambling on about it) and buy an Android device, then be prepared to face a endless stream of questions like:

                          1. Why isn’t iMessage working?
                          2. How come safari looks completely different?
                          3. And where the hell has the finger print scanner gone?

                          etc etc…..

See I don’t know about you, but I’m happy to let such people carry on using what works for them. So I would suggest you continue to pat yourself on the back for being so tech savvy and all, and leave those for whom this stuff really holds no interest whatsoever use what they like.

Cause in the end there is no getting around the fact that if your reading this, then the SE almost certainly never was for you.

ALPHABOY17, 07 Apr 2022Exactly man. If only Samsung could take this note from Appl... moreYour probably not going to like me for this but I was always a fan of the earlier Galaxy S series. I used and loved all S phones from the original S to the S5. I fell out of love when the dismal S6 hit the stores. Now I did continue to buy at least one versions of all the S series right up to the S10+, i just always ended up quickly returning them. After the S5 something had changed.

All that being said, an ‘FE’ style device based around something like the S8, with the latest snapdragon or Exynos could be interesting. Just not sure how much of a market there would be for it given the plethora of choice in the Android mid range.

The SE doesn’t really have to compete with anything else in the iOS space, I know there are those saying to get the XR or 11 or one of the mini’s etc, but that entails either a higher cost or going second hand. The target audience for the SE are probably looking to walk into their local phone dealership, and walk out with something as similar as possible, but new.

They are probably not interest by being bamboozled with a ton of alternatives, the details of which will bore them senseless, neither are they likely to want to take the risks and uncertainties associated with the second hand market, let alone the time it takes to find a good deal. No, they just want to walk in to that dealership hold up their current iPhone, say ‘give something as close to being this, but new’ then pay for it and walk out asap in order to get on with their day. This is who the SE is for.

It’s not designed to win over the Android faithful, that was never its purpose.

It's rubbish, battery life is very short and it is not recommended to buy.

Anonymous, 07 Apr 2022Bro, physical Touch ID is better than any under Display one... moreTouchID is slow, inaccurate and does not work with wet fingers. Because Apple uses still the same ancient technology as the first time they introduced it.
Any under display reader works better and especially has no problem with wet fingers.
I use both, so I know by myself, not just reading about it.
