Well... the design is really outdated, so are many specs and features.
For one thing - the terrible TouchID reader just deserves to disappear. Under-display readers are not a generation, but a millenium ahead.
Battery life? Pathetic. With a 10 % bigger battery you get 5 % more of endurance. The A15 seems to be not that effective, as being cited.
Camera... about average. But the imaging software is just poor. Look at the terrible "blur", that's unacceptable.
As for competition... S21 would be much better (considering both price and features), also 12 mini should have been compared all the time instead of 13 mini. And both mentioned are far better.

Absolutely no idea how you've given the device anything over a 3/5. You've literally only listed negatives in your conclusion (a positive of "a group of people wanting the cheapest iPhone" which isn't a positive by the way), even showing the $520 for essentially a 2017 being a problem, but you just sweep all that under the rug and give it a 4/5... Crazy.

You'll happily rate $150 android phones with, let's be honest, better all round specs and features, yet get 3/5 and similar poor marks (yet being 1/3 of the price of the se 2022).

The heat is willing "iOS 15" but the body "so out dated" cannot...

after seeing the battery life test results, nothing else needs to be said. You REALLY have to love iOS to get this phone. even the Xr is better value than this

I love all the ‘this is just an iPhone 8 with a new chip’ and ‘oh the battery life, wont some please think of the battery life!!!!’ shrieking that’s going on.

Here’s the irony of the situation, and it ain’t rocket science people, certainly not something you self styled ‘tech geniuses’ shouldn’t be able to get your heads around…..well eventually anyway. The target audience for this device likely ain’t ever going to read the review GSMArena has just gone to the trouble to produce. Hell they’ll probably thumb their noses up at reading a site like this in general.

In all likelihood they just feel that their existing iPhone, probably an 8 or earlier is getting a bit long in the tooth, and would like something familiar, but new. So they may buy this device and get several more years of service out of it, blissfully unaware of how much this seems to annoy readers of sites like this.

They don’t care about chip performance statistics, Megapixels, network speeds, frame rates or any of the 5000 or so Android devices released in the time taken to write this post, they just want a new iPhone that will allow them to carry on doing what they have been doing up till now, at as little cost as possible. It’s really very simple when you think about it.

this is the first time when I see this "Pro" feature on any device "The screen on battery endurance is actually okay" - are they getting paid not to say nasty things about Cupertino's products?

Huawei Nova 9 is better thn this and cheaper

"The minimum brightness we captured at point white was 2.6 nits - an impressive one for an LCD screen."

Gsmarena you have bad continuity sometimes apart from picture scenes I feel you guys don't remember patterns well in how displays perform from time to time in your reviews

2.6 minimum nits is actually very unimpressive for an LCD panel your very own reviews have objectively shown that LCD panels have the LOWEST nits brightness

The realme 8i measures 0.6 nits and overall LCD panels you've reviewed mostly hit 2 nits and under

This is a given because LCD isn't a calibration nightmare like OLED

For some people is all they need and even more. For me that I don't like Android and I have never bought one, is better than any Android.

Had the 2020 SE and the 12 Mini. Prefer the size and shape of the SE.

Aside from pure performance standpoint, iPhone SE 2022 is still worse than Galaxy S7, released in 2016. Both have very similar body size, but S7 has bigger and higher res screen, bigger battery and better cameras. You're way better of buying 12 mini than this.

A phone thats simply terrible but is still being defended by its fans.

If you want an apple phone get a mini or an iphone 11. You can even get an Se 2020 if you want an apple that badly.

But this phone is just not it and I dont get how people can defend it.
