The worst phone, I've ever had. It overheats while I was watching a YouTube video. It can't handle Bluetooth

Overall top phone. The best display in the business, no doubt.
* IMO 600 nits is quite ok for me, for some its very dim.

This one second hand in my country is at like 355$
Very much worth the buy, i might consider it, a flagship is a flagship, no point in having the latest and greatest.

basically a great phone I would consider to buy: Flat screen and headphone jack is great. A full Dual SIM and SD Card slot would be nice - although not so important as Sony offers a 512gb option. The only things I do not like it the too tall aspect ratio of the display. Resolution could be also a bit lower to improve battery lifetime but other people mighgt disagree here. If it would support a Stylus like Samsung with the Note series it would be an easy pick (a digitizer alone would be already great to enable stylus compatiblity - maybe with the MS Surface pens)...

So once overheating has been solved with new update, new problem appear. Its a bloody sd card! I cant use sd to save photos or record anuthing for somehow it cause the whole camera module to.crash, together with torchlight. It seems to work with internal memmory but any atempt to use sd makes it to crash and comes up with unknown error. Same with coping.files between sd and i.mem. Sloow is not the word for it. Same sd cards seems to work perfect on other devices like motorolla or samsung or even other xperia models but not xperia 1 mkIV. Strange

I just love that Sony has kept some functions that people love, and just keeps with them, despite the opponents following the stream.
Fx. The micro jack, the build in finger scanner, camera button, and lighting diode and the part i love the most is the sim card tray, which is accessible by fingers. As a technician who occasionally has to set up remote internet points with broadband sim-cards its perects to have the ability to test the sim in your phone, and remove the pin-code on the spot

I got the update to Android 13. The phone no longer heats up and maintains a constant temperature even during long gaming and photo/video editing sessions. Sony The Best!

I have had this phone for two months and the temperature issue was fixed by the software update. I made gaming sessions of one hour each and the phone kept its constant temperature.

Keeper, 10 Oct 2022I'm an old sony fan. Is the overheating issue on the s... moreTLDR Yes, In fact, the overheating issue is even worse on the newer Sony phones.
If you read this review and go to where it says "performance and benchmarks" you'll see they have a section for something like "sustained performance" where they see how quickly the phone throttles. Not only does this Sony phone throttle more than any other flagship on the market, it also heats up faster than any other flagship on the market. To be fair, no one really buys a Sony flagship for the processor performance but when a company is asking for $1400 MSRP, there is a bit of an expectation for good performance.

Multiple sources and reviews report overheating problems when using the camera, particularly during video recording. In quite a few cases, users were not able to record video for longer than half a minute.
Sony seems to be using just tiny bit of heat dissipitating thermo pad, while other manufacturers are using ginormous vapor chambers to cool down the SoC.
