Anonymous, 11 May 2022That's not the explanation. So Sony is advertising 30 ... moreIs the same situation with the iPhones. For longevity of their batteries. The iPhone 13 Pro Max with the 27W Apple charger, I think it takes about 90 minutes for fully charge. That is because after 85% the charging is slow.
I think Asus and Google are doing similar practices on their phones. Samsung does it too, but not so "brutal". My second hand S20+ takes about 60 minutes for fully charge. And after 85% is also relatively fast charging. Still slow, but not as slow as iPhones or Sony phones.
As a guy who changes phones frequently, this practice is useless to me. I rather have a phone with fast charging speed and changing it after 1 year, than a phone with slow charging, in the probability that I will keep it for "n" years (which in these times, nobody knows what will be in 6 months, not to mention in 4 years).
That is one of the big reasons I am planning to sell my S20+.

Other than continuous zoom of dubious quality, it's pretty much the same phone as last year and the year before that. Sony fanboys will bend over backwards to support the underdog, forgetting that it's still another multi billion dollar company that doesn't give a shit about them.

Which means that I AGREE with you.
Which means that YOU are the one with visions issues since you can't read that i wrote that I agree with you.
Do you even speak english ? Maybe it's not a vision problem that you have
I've got 20/10 on both eyes and yes I make the difference between 300 and 600ppi.
I've owned the famous Xperia XZ Premium with 807 ppi, after that I've jumped to an iPhone 7 Plus with 400 somethin ppi and the difference was immense.
Beyond this PPi count the main difference will be when visioning 4K content such as movies through the built-in apps.
That should be the best movie experience of any smartphone.

Nice. But spare yourself a problem and don't buy any phone with Snapdragon 8gen1, trust me. I had regular S22, had ultra, had oneplus10 pro, all of these phone heat up very easily and all of them have horrible battery life. Don't trust reviews easily, check reddit S22 barely gest 3.5h screen on time but gsmarena gave the phone ok battery score.

AnonD-546724, 11 May 2022I'm not saying there's no real 4K on Sony devices... moreFor the average person with exactly, normal 20/20 vision, at a normal viewing distance of about 12 inches, it only takes 360ppi before the individual pixels are imperceptible - the pixels “blend together” and that person sees a perfectly smooth image. 400ppi and 500ppi are both greater than 360ppi, so the average person with exactly 20/20 vision will not be able to see any difference - both displays exceed their visual acuity at normal viewing distance.
Is somebody has slightly better than “perfect” 20/20 vision, they may or may not see the difference between 400ppi and 500ppi. It depends on just how “slightly” better their vision is than normal.
Going to significantly better vision than normal, say, 20/10, it would take around 720ppi for such a person not to notice the individual pixels. So, it is very likely that they would notice the 500ppi display is better than the 400ppi display.
If you have, exactly, 20/20, or less visual acuity (20/25, 20/30, 20/40 and so on), and all other things being equal (brightness, contrast, etc.), you won't be able to see the difference between 400ppi or 500ppi.
If you have better than 20/20 (20/15, 20/10, 20/5) visual acuity, you, probably, can see the difference between 400ppi and 500ppi.
Whether the difference between different ppi's is noticeable is, literally, in the eye of the beholder.
Don't speak for others when you've got problems yourself

AnonD-546724, 11 May 2022I'm not saying there's no real 4K on Sony devices... moreConsidering that 4K has more pixels than 1440p, it’s easy to assume that it’s automatically better. However, as we know from the differences between 4G and 5G internet, discarding the older version isn’t necessarily the best idea.
While 4K might show a better image, it’s important to remember that these images require more processing energy. If the device you’re using can’t meet these demands, you’re probably going to run into problems.

"Obviously, the Xperia 1 IV has the best chipset in the world, coupled with one of the most impressive displays there is right now.
Let's talk about thermals now. The good news is that the Xperia 1 IV never gets uncomfortably hot. And that is because it throttles heavily."

Also consider it being one of the lightest flagships - 185g, it's 44g(24%) lighter than S22 Ultra, and 55g(30%) lighter than 13 Pro max. This is important for mobile photography as well as photo quality. And that's incredible still having 3.5 jack and memory slot!
For only real problem - throttling I think it needs proper accessory for external cooling.

See no single reason to upgrade my Xperia 1 III. Actually, I'm disappointed in Xperia 1 IV. It should be called "1 IIIs" or something like that. Overheating lesson of Xperia 1 III wasn't learnt. It looks like only OnePlus took some measures to cool down SD 8 gen 1 a bit. Missing charger, basically the same cameras and price hike aren't justifiable this time at all.
