Surface area of the screen is 77% of ROG phone 6 pro.
Also the battery is 71% of the ROG phone 6 pro.
So basically everything scale down to what it should be, getting same battery score as ROG phone 6 pro, namely 15hr. Speaking of web browsing time.

But consider LG G8x got 14hr with 6.5'screen 4000mah battery, I would say the efficiency of recent Qualcomm is still not impressive even it is on TSMC node.

And reminds me those Huawei Kirin CPUs. Those are 17-18hrs with 3800mah battery. I still don't understand how is this possible, despite using one of those currently.

If you are a light user, the poor standby of the iPhone become more noticeable than for a 1 to 2 day per charge user.

Still for the physical phone it’s size Zenfone 9 has a super solid battery life.

SerginSvg, 28 Jul 2022only 2 years OS update for £700 phone is unacceptable. Give money to Asus, so this way they can afford more.
I doubt they make 73 billion dollars yearly with phones like samsung to offer 4 new android versions.

What an amazing phone Asus has made. Definitely will consider buying when it becomes available here in this region. Small body and features too. Battery life is far better than other small phones. It even has a new, tap on back feature. Amazing. What an incredible phone

Vango, 28 Jul 2022Yup. 108h is absolutely incredible for a phone of this size... moreThe only thing that cracks the endurance rating a bit is the fact that it is only because of talk time. Especially when compared to iPhone, which is rated lower 89 hours, but has a longer web browsing time (more battery demanding) with a 1000 mAh smaller battery. That's not a good thing for Asus.
Also it does not exactly beat S22, since it has significantly smaller battery, but the times are exactly accurate to the difference. Considering smaller display and a newer 8 Gen 1+ it is not exactly a win.

I want to know what ASUS did to make Android phone with SD 8 Gen1 with just 4300mAh battery last that long when everyone else is doing 20% worse with larger batteries.

The studio photos are noticeably less detailed both in good and low light than the avarage sony 766 phone we've been seeing lately. Is that something you noticed ? Maybe a problem with your particular sample ?

Larger screen = more power required.

QHD uses more power than FHD.

This is a top tier smartphone feature..

4.8 out of 5 just for that feature only

People love to get heated about fast charging but destroy their batteries with 100% overnight charging ..

I REALLY miss the days of add-on storage via sd card memory and removable/replaceable batteries. All in the name of waterproofness. But who gives a damn about a little water. Give me back my exchangeable battery and sd memory card slot. It could even come with no battery or a small one for all I care. Just allow me the options. Memory more important than battery but neither are offered anymore. :(

Disappointed in the front design. Ugly bezels and 61.5mm screen width is hard to read.
The camera sensors are nice, but the post-processing actually degrades the quality.

                                    Hard pass. 😒

YUKI93, 28 Jul 2022Samsung Galaxy S22+, Xiaomi 12/12 Pro/12S Ultra, Vivo X80 P... moreExcept the Xiaomi 12S Ultra none of the phones you've mentioned have the SD 8 Gen 1+, and MIUI have bad optimizations.
Is Asus restricting a lot of processes in the background that stop notifications from arriving in real time?
                                      That's my question.

Finally found the perfect not too large Android phone for my partner.

Myself I went the iOS route after 10 year of Android, the S22 was just too bad for it's price (in my country, plus EU so we get the Exynos model)

My partner wants to stick to Android, so I nearly went the Sony route... well I guess Zenfone 9 it is.

The battery life looks great, it matches the 13 Pro (don't look at iPhone it's stand-by, that makes the number lower but it's about the daily active usage and on that regard the Zenfone 9 goes BEYOND that, because on paper S22 and iPhone 13 (Pro) should be mostly on par, but the iPhone gets doube the screen on time when using, that is how I compare a phone because if you do daily charging then that does matter the most)

Anyhow even I start to think to maybe go back to Android if Zenfone proves itself, based on this review I would get it any moment if I didn't already have a phone I am fine with.

My only concern is how reliable the hardware will be, I know a lot of people that got the Zenfone 8 and in more than half of the cases they got a bricked phone from one day to another.

It will depend on your luck and region you live in, but Asus over here has 2 support lines, one for their desktop stuff (that one is great) and one for smartphones (that one is beyond bad)

I know few people that are still waiting for their Zenfone 8 to be repaired after months....

So if Asus finally fixed that issue with this Zenfone 9, I would dare to say this is the best under 6.5" smartphone running Android this year.

(it does lack wireless charging, my partner doesn't use that, but it is great they went the physical FP sensor way because the one on Zenfone 8 was poor)

Also before someone starts to act like a keyboard knight based on my comment, read this again, or at least read the part of me saying this phone is a great buy if that one issue the Zenfone 8 had, is solved.
