Love love love it... But the only deal breaker for me is the low quality image processing... Hardware is too good but dont know why the results are not at par with other phones having equal or same hardware.

I've just got an S22 because it was the smallest (android) flagship I could get my hands on and after experiencing the exynos I'm very inclined to sell it and try this Zenfone 9 instead

They ruined the camera processing. The foilage rendation was much better on Zenfone 8.

Practicality is not your cup of tea then.

Even the flat sides are slightly extended around buttons and jack port, the back is slightly curved on the edges, camera looks nothing like ones on iPhone. I think ASUS did pretty well here as far as design goes. It's unique enough that you can't really mistaken it with anything else. Even Honor's dual ring camera looks totally different.

Does that mean 2 or 4 years of security updates?

All these iphonny looking designs are shameful & an insult to the Android community.

Because Asus make the speakers in ROG phones like that. This is a compact phone. So the aim is to make it as small as possible, what is incompatible with front speakers. If you need frontal speakers, Asus made the ROG phones to you.

But I can tell you that it has one of the most balanced stereo sound (I also owned Pixel 4a, I think its speakers were better balanced). I don't think you'll regret it if what you care is the sound.

Anders, 28 Jul 2022I am thinking. You're not. What you're doing is a... moreThis is not Asus's only phone.
And I am just happy that there is at least some manufacturer who cares about smaller phones and provide more options rather than aping Apple by ditching features that people find useful.
If Asus can give a compact phone while providing great battery life and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, why can't other do it even in bigger phones.
You sound more like a marketing advisor rather than a tech enthusiast.
Smaller phones have their target audience. They don't need to make a whole lot of them.
                            Stop being childish.

And Nokia's decision to support Windows Phone and HTC's lack of presence in smartphone space has nothing to do with this.
                            There's also LG.

Anyway, they have nothing to do with Asus is doing by giving us an option to have a compact flagship phone that still hasn't ditched features that at least some people care about.

too much compromise on a small phone, losing half the performance in game.

For that price, Asus could have at least give 1st gen LTPO display. The packaging doesn't seem that impressive either, with that thick body only holding 4300mah battery.

Positive points: SD8+gen1 looking like a big improvement over the SD8gen1 and the design a lot better than the dowdy Zenfone 8.

We know that when ph... moreThat's not how it works. iPhone's throttling became a problem because Apple never communicated to their users about it and kept it a total secret until it was discovered. The older A-series SoCs could draw a lot of power to achieve excellent burst performance, more than what degraded batteries could possibly provide, so decreasing the peak performance was a necessary measure to prevent potential shutdowns caused by a sudden spike in the power draw.

This is why if you disable the throttling in the settings app and continue using your 4-5 year old iPhones for highly demanding tasks, they may shut down without any warning. Nobody would buy a new phone just because the battery is aging and slowing down the phone - they would try to replace the battery (which is much cheaper) first instead, especially if they are already invested in Apple's ecosystem.
