I still delay my purchase of a foldable phone until new physics when glass will bend and there will be no crease or scratches on the display

So I have the v60 with the dual screen and the screen size is about 1/4 inch smaller on the top and the side with no gap. So far so good except the crease is irritating after seeing the Huawei (no crease) in Singapore about a month ago. It was going for about $1600 USD which is out of my price range. I got it thru AT&T so was able to trade in my old S4 Active for $1000 off so not bad since it includes the S-Pen case. The kickstand can be swapped for the pen but then it won't fit your car mount. Kickstand is flimsy at best and can barely keep the phone upright. Battery lasts the whole day with 30% to spare. Having the outer screen is way better than the LG which only had a notification window. I also have the n93 which is way thicker than the fold so thickness is not a problem.

Pity they couldn’t conclude the battery test, but looking at the numbers, it’s better than Z Fold 3 but still considerably far behind S22 Ultra and 13 Pro Max.
Hopefully one day they can fit +5000mAh batteries into these foldables.

Since we all use our mobile devices differently, it is not possible to be overly general when evaluating them. For me, the Z Fold series is ultra useful and it's price is not nearly as bad as the so often mentioned MSRP. I recently bought the Fold4 along with a Watch5 Pro. With a trade-in (valued at $1,000) I paid $750 for the Fold4 with 512GB and $110 for the Watch5 Pro. That seems very reasonable to me. Anyone who is a power user can easily figure out how to get devices at well below MSRP (or go for it on Black Friday).
As for the value, the software advantages (especially DEX via a PC) of the Fold4 over other foldables is far greater than the mere differences in their prices. And that is before factoring in that Samsung devices are way more thoroughly tested and have a longer record than any of the other folding phones mentioned in the article.
Well written and excellent review!

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2022Is your Fold4 as flexible as a wallet though, genius? You c... moreAlso foldables don't have to be thick. Huawei managed to make them about 1cm thick by 2019 already. Then the Americans banned them because they could not compete with them and now we are getting thick knockoff that are terrible.
Honestly. The 1980-2020 period seemed like a dream. The who, world could trade and compete and technology was advancing in leaps and bounds.
Now we regressed to the prior version of the world where each section of the world has its own things and technology is moving slowly...
For shame. This crop of politicians should be forgotten.

Will one day be a mainstream form factor, but currently it's not there yet. That big crease in the middle of the screen is only possible to not notice when you drink the Samsung Kool aid. The screen being so reflective makes it so much worse.

If you increase the hardness, the flexibility will reduced. You can't have it both ways. A reasonable expectation is to wish for the crease to be less visible. It has been proven that it can be done.
