Way too expensive, given the specs.

Disappointed not to see the tele-lenses for that price.

Comparing both Mk4 and Mk3 Xperia 5 photo quality through GSMArena's photo compare tool, the new model gets my thumbs up for showing better colour and clearer detail than last year's model. I find the absence of the Mk4 Xperia 1's continuous variable zoom periscope telephoto camera a real missed opportunity, but I'm still glad that the 120fps video recording support is still there.

Too bad photos taken by this model! Shame!

AnonD-546724, 01 Sep 2022Funny how Sony decided not to bruise the ego of 1 IV owners... moreBut then again, no previous Xperia 5 models get the overclocked SoC either. It won't make sense for Sony to put the overclocked version on the new Mk4 model. Maybe the Pro-I successor will get it, but even that doesn't sound like a real possibility.

Yes expensive, but money are not worth a thing anymore, will buy even to show others that this is what I want, no holes, no super large displays

I am looking for a compact camera phone: zenfone9 vs s22 vs Sony Xperia 5 IV. Which one wins in terms of photography????

Funny how Sony decided not to bruise the ego of 1 IV owners
by not giving the smaller phone the faster chip.

Also, we're always hatin' on others OEMS for recycling designs but somehow Sony gets a pass, a 4 year pass and counting at this point. Go figure.

Except this ain't no DB9 nor Submariner, and dude it does looks so 2019.

Okay, the ratings officially stopped making sense. 4.5*? WHAT?! The camera is absolute trash at night as you've shown in the article, it overheats like 7th plane in Dante's Inferno and it is whopping €350 (!!!!!!!) more expensive than S22 (which btw takes infinitely better photos at dark and has completely different level of software support).

This seriously upsets me because as an Xperia 5 II owner myself, I got tricked by these similarly fanboyish reviews into buying this buggy mess, and I hate to see other people getting tricked again. I've never had more app crashes and various UI bugs on any of my previous phones. And don't even get me started on the camera which makes worse photos in night than a 150 dollar Xiaomi. MARK MY WORDS, just get Samsung S22 (or wait for S23 if you can).

Pangsailousai, 01 Sep 202267mm width, meh, how do you even type on these midget phone... moreYou type with one hand unlike on 75mm device that requires both hands. Unless you're a basketball player with Shaq hands.

so, i wonder if it possible to take xperia 5 iv battery then put it into the older xperia 5 series?

This looks like an awesome device! Had I been in the market for a keyboard-less slab, this would go right to the top of my list....

people must need to complain lol
almost everyone nowadays remove charger, if sony does the same its a shame. ok but they removed also the cable lol..so at home we don't have a cable? missing charger is worse, but blame apple and samsung for starting this nonsense..

for the rest, where are all people always complaining for missing sdcard, notification led, 3.5 jack? this phone have them all. and also a zoom cam and wireless charge in a modest size (zenfone 9 I'm looking at you)

i don't play videogames and don't use heavy apps, I'm sure i wouldn't notice preformed drop problems.

still, battery life is amazing (s22 I'm looking at you with your ridiculous 3700 battery lol)

screen is stellar without notch and punch hole shames. i love it.

price is on par with all flagships nowadays, but if sony applies it, it is a shame..lol

only downside is sw support maybe, but who keeps the phone more than 3 years nowadays? the very minority...

for me it would be the perfect phone, just need to understand if this will ever come to my country officially or not, and if i can find somewhere 1000 euros lol

Kinda a letdown they still used the overheating scamsung fabbed sd8 gen1 instead of tsmcs sd8+ gen1. Its smaller than I IV meaning it will overheat faster unless they mega throttle the soc.

G96 uses A76, tiamna? Who cares, it have good color accuracy.. MIUI is one of the best skin and GSMArena said it have you read the review?

This is how you are supposed to render fine details. Beautiful, just beautiful. No artifacts, no oversharpening, just a fine balance of edges and textures. Also note how they didn't ghost out the moving leaves and just left it as motion blur. That is more elegant than rather just going for technical perfection.

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2022And considering Sony didn't even include the cable, I ... moreThere was a time when flagship devices had many accessories in the box so people buying them felt worth the money paid. Now, mid-range and lower-end devices have better in-the-box accessories. In the name of environment and rest, it's shocking what manufacturers are doing now with the asking price.
I am not interested in any flagships now as getting a phone out of the box and a cable is not worth it. It's another story that whatever chargers I have from old devices are not compatible with the included cable lol.

Coming back to Sony Xperia 5 IV, what on earth they were thinking to launch the device:
                                a) With Snapdragon Gen 1 which had thermal issues clearly.
                                b) No cooling system in place to manage sustained performance.

A capable device but the choice of SoC component and throttling to battle the heat for a premium price is not reasonable.

67mm width, meh, how do you even type on these midget phones. Snapping photos is not the only thing you do on a phone. This should have been at least 75mm to 76mm.

Brilliant camera on this phone but at 67mm width its a hard pass. Even dwarfs would have a fit dealing with such width. What are these people thinking when coming up with these dimensions?!

There are reasons why Sony is failing in the smartphone market while overhyped overpriced phones like Apple get ahead with mediocrity. Sony doesn't do its research, they think shoving everything they can be good at into a phone will net them sales. It's way more than that.

Is the color of the accents in the UI locked to that gross pastel blue like on Xperia III Android 12 devices? Or can it be changed on this model?

Dantonku, 01 Sep 2022Sadly, everyone will get rid of it. Such a nonsense, especi... moreAnd considering Sony didn't even include the cable, I am just waiting until Apple and Samsung remove that too from the box.

                                        And the rest will follow.

So what's next to remove? I guess speakers because I have already see people claim on this site that BT is always enough.

Ow and sim card slot, because well "we need all this space for the battery"

OW OW and how about removing the charging port? Yeah, we don't need that too.

I hope some people understand my sarcasm here, removing stuff from phone often happens because money.

Same goes for power bricks, I mean the one I had to order for my phone had so much paper and plastic around it, heck I would argue the box my phone came in had just as much of it.

Plus then there is the price, we pay so much money for our phones and the bricks that cost pennies are not included.

This whole "no brick in box" is going to get funny now OPPO (and surely other chinese brands) are going to remove it, because the whole shitck of these brands is fast charging.

And in a lot of countries they don't sell their bricks to begin with...
