The people who are going to buy this phone are probably already in the iOS ecosystem and may have no idea what else is out there. Can't see why anyone would switch to iOS from Android right now.

Looking at the photos between the 14 Pro and the 13 Pro, I don't think I will feel left out if I got the 13 Pro. Tbh, I don't see any significant photo quality improvement on the 14 Pro. The only area where the 14 Pro beat the 13 Pro is NM OFF. Other than that, they both look the same, including the oversharpening effect.

      Pro: no notch
      Cons:
      - Face ID is a mistake. Bring back Touch ID
      - iOS always wants you to use Apple apps even though it allows to use others, and 3rd party don't work too well
      - iOS is too 🤪

The resized 48MP shots to 12MP shots make a huge difference! If Apple can pull off that kind of "look" (insert processing) in their photos, then that would be some of the best of the best. I mean, photos are detailed without looking like over sharpened or overly processed; and can already match the naturalness of photos of Xperia 1 Mark IV.

This has nothing to do with machine learning, in fact some ML-based noise reduction algorithms are considered to be vastly superior to traditional ones (e.g. DeepPRIME).

ProRAW has its own set of issues, such as sharpening and noise reduction directly baked into the file, but what you're saying is clearly not one of them.

Nice phone, but the price is still at the high side.

-Trix-, 25 Sep 2022Because antutu isn't cross platform test while geekben... moreIf you compare Geekbench GPU scores (compute), they also heavily favour Exynos CPU's.

For example, the Xiaomi 11Tpro with the Snap 888 reaches 4398 Points, while the Galaxy Note 9 with Exynos 9810 reached 4407, beating the 888 in some phones.

And if you go to Open CL, the Dimensity 1200 and Snap 8gen1 are only 500 Points apart, while the Kirin 9000 is ranks first being 1400 Points ahead of the 8gen1.

Just a reminder that this is a cross platform benchmark Geekbench 5, and I do not fully trust it.

-Trix-, 25 Sep 2022Because antutu isn't cross platform test while geekben... moreAntutu is Cross platform as well, just that the GPU score of it is not as it is using Metal API instead of Vulkan or OpenCL

Just like Geekbench compute isn't cross platform, because that tests the GPU.

But generally, that makes any game in existence not counting for cross platform, because no game on Apple will use Vulkan or OpenCL. So saying that you can't compare Antutu because of that different API, also means that you can't compare Genshin on Apple and Android because different API.

In Antutu Apple just happened to be worse, while in other things it's better.

Also in your link, The 14promax has been one of the hottest devices in the final ranking list.

Generally there is almost nothing were both devices would have an perfectly fair comparison, for this year with the 8+gen1, both are good, Apple slightly more power efficient.

The guy actually states how impressed he is with the 14 Pro main camera results given its physical limitations, so what exactly is your point here?

A YouTuber has compared the 49 megapixel raw files with the Canon R5. While the comparison wasn't perfect, it clearly showed that the 49 megapixel raw files produce horrible(!!!) machine learning artifacts in low light conditions! For example, a circle in a low light photo is rendered as a half circle or is replaced with straight lines (!!) (and nearly no noise is visible, this makes the wrong details look even more authentic).
Hopefully, competitors won't do the same nonsense.
