If you go to lowlight I think the detail level looks better than the others you mention, looking at various items like the squarebob sponge pants, the donkey and various other items. There is also virtually no noise in lowlight photos too. The Samsung has quite a bit of noise and the two Xiaomi's also have some noise. The lowlight photos that are in the same setting as the Xiaomi 13 pro also seem to retain more details across the frame (especially on background grass, and trees) and have less noise also. However, moving to lowlight video all the others look better than the magic 5 pro in the studio set up. I think the lowlight video quality needs improvement to match Xiaomi and Samsung. Photos are the strong suit of the Honor Magic 5 pro. In terms of photos they should also offer a portrait option with the telephoto lens. Not sure why there is none

It's interesting to look at the studio setup comparison of the tube map with the mate 50, s23 ultra and 12s ultra.
The s23 is oversharpened whereas the Huawei mate 50 is soft and lacks details, the Xiaomi 12s ultra does better than the 13 pro, but the Honor magic 5 pro is very good nonetheless considering they are also cropping like Huawei, whether it deserves the number 1 score for texture on dxomark is questionable but I think it looks better than the mate 50.

Probably due to therm... moreMy old xperia ( replaced already) never had limit for video. Despite using much higher bitrates ( 52Mbps) ..
It was never android thing. OEMs used to put up 5 min ( samsung stopped doing only with s20 series ) as own choice.
I suppose at least honor is not secretly dropping frames like bbk and xiaomi phones to allow longer videos.

what about the OS updates? I saw some online posts that it will be 2 years and others were saying it will get 3 major OS updates. This seems like a good replacement for my mate 30 pro, i'm just not sure if it will get 2 or 3 major updates. Although i hope it will get till magic ui 10 at least since that will be 3 years.

the review of portrait mode here is correct. if you look at dxomark cafe samples you can clearly see the Magic5 Pro portrait mode missing a lot of details on the wall compared to iphone & mate 50 pro, also it can't retain every single hairline like the Mate 50 Pro, same story can be seen with samples of this review

“4K videos limited to 15 minutes!”
Probably due to thermal issues, it does suck considering the last phone I had that limited the length of a 4K recording was the LG G3.
And back then it made sense why, now it does not and poor cooling design doesn’t count.
A shame though because this phone does tick a lot of boxes.
