Szabolcs, 31 Mar 2023OK, so basically the performance of A52s from 2021, minus t... moreCorrect. A52s was an outlier. A53, A52, A51, A50 all have pretty mediocre processors.

Samsung has two personalities - in the US they want the A series to be significantly worse than the S series to make the S series look good, hence the US gets a lower memory model in the A, and always a snapdragon in the S; and in the rest is the world they want to compete with manufacturers on specs and price, hence A52s, A73 with good processors. Did I mention the A52s and A73 were not available in the US?

The US market lacks strong competition due to absence of Huawei, XiaoMi, Oppo, etc. And manufacturers figured people are more likely to spend more money to buy premium phones (so many US people buy iPhones despite price going up every year).

Either way, it is clear Samsung did not innovate for 2 years. I would never pay $450 for this phone. $300 seems like a more fitting price.

Why does it mention in the Design section of this review that the A54 has a plastic back?

          It's not plastic. It's Gorilla Glass 5.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2023So that means UFS 2.2 in India (one of the largest markets)... moreWhat.

            This is hella bizarre.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2023I believe the Note you mention here is the Note 20 series w... moreThe Snapdragon vs Exynos battery difference still exists because an older chipset like SD 8+ gen 1 in a realme GT3 is able to do 117 hours of battery endurance with a smaller 4600 mah battery while also delivering a strong performance vs the Exynos 1380 that does almost the same (119 hours) but that's with a weaker processor and a bigger battery so in theory it should be able to do much better about 130 hours or so. But it doesn't, and it can't because of lesser battery efficiency

The A53 wasn't exactly good at battery as well as it could put score of just 113 hours with a same battery size vs it's predecessor the A52s that also did the same BUT with a 10 percent smaller battery because it packed a Snapdragon processor. Accept it or not it's a fact. Snapdragon is better at battery efficiency

damn samsung's a52s was such a good phone that they're catching up to its performance 2 years later

Pumpino, 31 Mar 2023What's your preference out of the S23, S23+ and the S2... more6.4" Galaxy A54 is physically bigger than the S23+ in every dimension. Fat irony.

                  It's wider, taller and thicker.

[deleted post]I think that colours are subjective topic. I am not sure if its like that out of the box because no reviews actually complain about colours being that off. But I think some people like warmer colours, some like cooler and saturated colours, and some others like photos to look as natural as possible. I don't exactly know how the photos are turning out and which aspect about the colours you don't like. But if it isn't for you, it isn't for you I guess.
Some people prefer Pixels HDR look, in which case, that is the better option for you. But I like my pics to not be very HDR-like, especially in shadows, so I actually prefer Samsung's HDR algorithm, which doesn't lift the shadows too much. And, there are faults with that sometimes, as you may risk losing shadow details sometimes, but still, I prefer to have contrasty pics while the highlights are not blown out, which is exactly what I get.

But I get your point, It is not for everyone. Just don't generalise your views to others.

Pumpino, 31 Mar 2023What's your preference out of the S23, S23+ and the S2... moreMy preference is S23+. Because it has everything I want in a phone and is not too small, but not too big either. Plus, the battery is also not too bad

When it comes to size, the S23+ will be the one you want to look at, because, it is mentioned here in this review that the S23+ is, actually (slightly) smaller than A54 even though it has 6.6" screen. This is due to less bezels and higher screen to body ratio of the flagship series.

OK, so basically the performance of A52s from 2021, minus the 3.5mm jack (but with years longer Android update support), with double the price.

I almost wish there was a size in between the S23 and the S23+. 6.1" is a bit on the small side and then it jumps to 6.6" and 6.8". I think 6.2-6.4" is the sweet spot.
