AnonD-1057631, 08 May 2023"However, there is a persistent stutter while scrollin... moreWow, so the stutter from OxygenOS 11 still isn't fully dealt with all the newer OS versions. My 8T is very smooth with OOS13, but looks like they still are trying to recreate the constant stutter of OOS11! Damn you, OnePlus.

Super Android 22, 09 May 2023Thats false lol. Using your logic Volkswagen = Audi = Lambo... moreTheir user interface actually looks similar. The only thing that differentiate each brand is Oppo and China OnePlus use ColorOS naming, Global OnePlus uses OxygenOS naming, and Realme uses RealmeUI naming.

SwanseaNerd, 09 May 2023So buy a better router, or boost the signal somehow? Of course, but I need something portable. I can't carry a router everywhere and hotspot is inconvenient everytime. So any modern High powered tablet needs to have cellular at least as option

Super Android 22, 09 May 2023Thats false lol. Using your logic Volkswagen = Audi = Lambo... moreTotally agree with you on that. Some even count them all as a single company — BBK. Which is just as false.

Super Android 22, 09 May 2023Thats false lol. Using your logic Volkswagen = Audi = Lambo... moreNo, actually it is 95% true. 5% differs due to brand name, slight design & software change and pricing. The product these companies sell is only one at the core & with little different adjustments each company above sells differently.

AnonD-1057631, 08 May 2023"However, there is a persistent stutter while scrollin... moreThat's precisely why I can't understand the overall rating. The display is (almost) everything for the tablet experience, followed by choice of chip and battery capacity.

Ars Technica was brutally honest about how the bad display rendered the tablet almost unusable, and provided detailed measurements to back up the assessment.

When the screen refresh rate handling and latency are so bad, along with the very high black value, I cannot understand why the overall rating is so high.

The entire reason for existing for larger screen mobile devices such as tablets is exactly that : a quality larger display experience, mostly (but not only) for media and content. In that respect this device from OnePlus is a clear fail?

Vishal Akbar, 09 May 2023OPPO=ONEPLUS=REALME that explains all. Thats false lol. Using your logic Volkswagen = Audi = Lamborghini = Porche (Volkswagen owns them all but clearly different teams working in different companies making different cars). Also still trying to insult Oppo... Hahahahaha

Anonymous, 09 May 2023"This, frustratingly, also includes latency-sensitive ... moreThe apps usually don't decide their maximum refresh rate unless it's a game. They will run as high as the system allows. In this case, OxygenOS is limiting how high the apps will run. The same apps will run at a higher refresh rate on, say, a Pixel device.

BJR, 09 May 2023It's funny, how every reviewer keeps glossing over the... moreThat's a fair point as the tablet is limited to 128GB in most regions. However, our review unit had 256GB, which is also an option in some regions.

"One frustrating omission is that of a headphone jack"
Oh, that's because OnePlus Pad is too small for that. Headphone jack takes up more space than the battery, right? That's why Apple removed, right?
No, wait, it had something to do with courage, or stupidity, or valuation, or making more money on same old users... I don't remember the exact wording. Something like "it takes courage to charge more for a device that doesn't have a standard feature, and to offer overpriced accessories at the same time" or something like that.

Considering OnePlus also sells overpriced accessories, I guess they just went Apple route - it takes lots of courage to go against "the norm" (also known as "common sense") and demand more money for using basic functions with industry-standard accessories. You know, just like Apple does. And that makes Apple one of the best companies in a world where common sense is... not that common any more, I guess.

Samsung has its Galaxy Tab S series for a few years which are really good in overall tablet experience despite Android flaws, and undeniably better than OnePlus or Lenovo. But these aren't cheap.

Anonymous, 09 May 2023"This, frustratingly, also includes latency-sensitive ... moreIt's a gimmick because some manufacturers don't implement it well and because some devices are too slow for gaming at that refresh rate? It's still great for everyday tasks and simpler games.

Android tablets will never go anywhere until Google starts to get serious about tablets again. Literally no Android apps optimized for tablet experience. So no matter what hardware you use, the user experience will always be sub par because the software is not there. Heck, even Firefox is not tablet optimized. That shows you how developers ignore Android tablets because Google doesn’t care either.

But that doesn't mean Android tablet doesn't have its place since there are people who can live with Play Store apps only.

"This, frustratingly, also includes latency-sensitive apps like drawing apps and games, which are also often locked to 60Hz. Video apps like YouTube will only work at 60Hz outside of video playback and will stay at that refresh rate regardless of the video frame rate."

This is why I still believe high screen refresh rate is a gimmick. Very few apps can go beyond 60Hz, and it's no guarantee it can stay high the same all the time.

"If you want to have a high-quality tablet productivity experience, Android is not an option."

This is false. Depending on a productivity task, both platforms have their pros and cons in tablet world.
