Most hi-end phones have USB OTG from years. 4. Even fastest mSD require newest sd Reader to achieve optimal speed. Not know wether sony change sd reader for mark V but mark IV ones were VERY slow.

And above all usually sd card reader in phone is not resolve with spring load slot but trough sim drawer which often require remove the phone case, than ejector pin to open litle drawer and after transfer files all these steps have to be repeated.

It is MUCH more time consuming and inconvenient than just pług in USB drive.

USB-C pendrives aren't still any faster than a UHS-3 microSD card. Also, you forgot the fact that most phone still don't have native OTG support. And one more thing: People who always use microSD card don't like to waste time transferring files using Wi-Fi or with PC since they don't put all the files on the internal storage. When they got a new phone, just pop up the card into it and off they go.

                              I'm only considering the Pixel 7a because it's probably the best value rn for a mid-ranger. It's got a decent camera and the software updates for a decent price.

                              I would prefer to get this phone, but recently something happened and paying extra to import it on top of its price is not worth it. I need an upgrade and I shouldn't be spending so much on a phone, but the FOMO on this phone is getting to me.

                              I'm in the Canadian market and Sony phones aren't officially sold here anymore, unfortunately. I had a pixel and I don't mind the software, it's not a priority to me, but it is nice to have. I take a lot of pictures so having the Xperia makes more sense, but the price is a bit difficult to justify since I'm paying more to get it here.

                                  Tell how you would put the phone in your pocket with the USB drive attached? Would you be able to charge your phone with fast wired charging?

                                  I too use USB drive for storing long term items from phone, but it doesn't beat the convenience of having SD card where I can get a file as soon as I need it.

                                      Better standby stamina is only important for people who don't use their phones very often.
