Why have they removed the notification LED?! Clearly just for cost cutting pure and simple. Such a useful thing that was pretty much on every Android phone had a decade ago.

Does anyone knows if EU is getting 512 GB version?
Also, wyth there is no 1 TB option???
      What this phone is missing:
      - 16GB RAM
      - 1 TB SSD
      - full USB 4.0 spec (40Gbps and 100W) and
      - full 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 Out spec
      - VRR
      - Screen should have 2160 lines to be called "4K" or "UHD" . 21:9 is great! At least it's a standard, unlike other phone manufacturers.
      - Stock Android
      - Main camera should really be 35 mm
If it had all that, it would be perfect for me. Wouldn't care if it is twice the price.
Many other things they do great (Full front facing stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack, Micro SD card slot, no hole in the display, no curves on it as well...)

No charger and NO CABLE in the box for that price - that has to be a joke. Also still overheating and thermal throttling issues like every other Xperia.. That's just not good enough Sony. Terrible cooling solution as always.

Fantastic phone! Finally finding myself (for the first time) having to agree with "the cost will not allow me to get it" brigade. I am a total Sony fanboy, but in this 2023 economy, our currency has depreciated against the dollar more than 50%, it's just not a realistic expectation for me to get it. Miracles do happen though... That said, one of the best phones ever made!

Seems like this phone also belong in the same category as P60 Pro.. A niche products with high price & excellent camera..Just read both review back to back ..

The reviews mention that both have mature processing but I still prefer sony in daylight but Huawei nailed the night time.

P60 Pro are really good with ultra wide & telemacro .. And both sucks at telephoto .. The telephoto probably belongs to Galaxy, Pixel & iPhone(?)

At the end, you can't go wrong with any of those phones, Huawei, Sony, Samsung, Google & Apple especially if camera is the main priority.

Vivo might be close to the above group but Xiaomi & Oppo is a bit inconsistent .

Zoom pictures looks very bad. And again it's too big gap between 24mm and 85mm. 24mm is too wide BTW for a main camera. I don't understand this trend. 26-27mm was better. There is an ultrawide if wide angle is needed.

Great review, many thanks @ team GSMARENA

I went to check the calender as i was confused whether this is still 2010

The colour science of Sony is horrible. There is always some intense tint on their pictures. Sush a shame, as the phone looks great.

Great review, as always. That being said, I wish you guys would get into a little bit more detailed comparison, especially with the predecessor (1 iv).

And no macro mode on a flagship cameraphone especially marketed towards content creators is something that only Sony understands...

Anonymous, 12 May 2023MicroSD card is much slower than UFS built in storage. It i... moreWhat am I going to do with that faster speed, huh? Put apps on it? Oh wait, you can't. How about take pictures to it? Can you do that with modern versions of Android? They can also use UFS 2 or 3 micro SD if they want, right? Don't know if Android or any phone every supported that though.

Good to see that Sony has finally overcome the overheating issues since the 1 III (plus some earlier models)

very appealing phone. my old xperia z5 had multi-aspect ratio support sensor, too. it is a great feature if you prefer shooting 16:9 like me. you can use the full sensor area in 4:3 and 16:9 modes with no crop happening.

I wish it would be around $1200 mark. I would also expect a better battery life using LTPO panel. static 120Hz is a 2020 flagship or 2022 midranger feature.
