I personally like this phone...a lot. I just don't like Sony pricing these days. I'll wait for these to get discounted below $800, and I'll pull the trigger on one. I use the primary camera 10x as much as the telephoto. With a good crop zoom, I'm good. What I need is a ultra wide with AF for macro stuff. Like I said, I'll wait a year for it to drop below $800 unlocked.

When this phone is released, you can buy a Galaxy S23 Ultra for pretty much the same price. I wonder who in the right mind will buy it.

screen stops working in the rain (Nexus 6P correctly registers touches even underwater)
bigger bezels
boring exterior colors, which doesn't matter because...
probably still too slippery to use caseless
still overheats according to at least two reviewers
still flaky fingerprint according to some reviewers
2/3 years of support (basically the worst)
updates regularly lag Samsung/Google by several months
night mode is still FAR too conservative (for indoor low-light or moonlight shots, you'll need RAW) and can't be explicitly selected in basic

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2023Ah, if only the main cam had a 35 mm lens...ZTE is the only one that offers such focal length for the primary camera for now, you'd probably better wait for Z50S Ultra or Ultimate or whatever they will call that upcoming phone with a huge camera hump.

Maybe they should go all-in on the Exmor T sensor with digital zoom.
Have a large 48MP Exmor T sensor for 14mm ultrawide, 2x digital zoom for 28mm
have a second large 48MP Exmor T for a 35mm main cam, 2x digital zoom for 70mm.
If their phones are going to be this expensive, and feature "professional" photography, they should use 2 large sensors.

It doesn't mean the phone's no good for anyone else.

Concluding, it is too expensive to buy it, looks obsolite, ugly with corners, buggy software, dim display, low speaker volume.

I still use the X5II,
Last year I got the Samsung flip 4 .. after using it one day I went back to the Sony,
best Android software.

The new Video Creator featured on 5 mk V is fab.
Editing and cutting video, frame rates, aspect ratios, res, sound and volume control, color filters, text input,...
Seems to be the new Editing Pro app addon for Xperias line of Pros...
Very much like it.
