Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Edge 40 Neo: Dimensity 7030 People: Good chipset But...... moreBecause the Samsung costs almost double. You get 8+ Gen1 in the price range and fast charging, etc.

Anonymous, 26 Sep 2023Edge 40 Neo: Dimensity 7030 People: Good chipset But...... moreNot a bad chip bad at all. I have watched 10 or so video reviews of NEO on YT and everyone says "good everyday performance with no stutters and apps opening very quick". But of course it can't handle Genshin Impact on higher settings. Exynos is better than before? Good if it is. Exynos was for many years the reason why many didn't buy Samsung flagships here in Europe.

      Edge 40 Neo: Dimensity 7030
      People: Good chipset

      But...
Galaxy A54: Exynos 1380 (more powerful and efficient than the Dimensity 7030)
      People: Bad chipset

The newer devices don't feature anything "unique", despite being decent enough and have pleasant-looking color choices

I just looke... moreThis is why I prefer not to read mobile phone reviews from those who receive those devices as incentives, so naturally they get compared in a way that the device of interest appears terrible, when it's not during day to day use.

atichko, 26 Sep 2023Am doing just that it seems to be better than mentioned in ... moreAfter all, modern phones have larger batteries with skinny tall displays, where companies wouldn't have thought it was possible back in 2016. And Mediatek chipsets appear to be more efficient with every generation, so it's likely that would've affected the battery performance in this phone.

5000mAh is more than enough imho, considering that I use my Nokia 8 for 2-3 days with a tiny 3000mAh battery lol

Vibe, 21 Sep 2023Yh, i dont believe the battery life is that bad, check othe... moreAm doing just that it seems to be better than mentioned in this review but no one is overly ecstatic about the battery performance.

                  1) About the camera review part of NEO. Weird. I just looked at the daylight photos from the main 50mp sensor and they looked very natural real to life on my screen. Makes me wonder if they had been from some flagship phone or Nothing 2 maybe only praise had been coming of how nice and natural they look?
                  2) Even more weirdness! Then I looked on review page 5 and especially went to that excellent "photo comparison tool" and shock 'n' horror 🤯 how dull and colourless photo looked there compared to Edge 40! Look there at the red colour of the tomato (up in the middle, beside carrot) and look how red looks more brown than red and that carrot isn't orange but nearly yellow! So there seems to be something very wrong with photos from main camera output since Edge 40 photos looks totally different and much better (also on A54).
                  3) Conclusion, we will not know if AI was OFF in camera settings or if they had changed it to AI ON and if that had changed everything to better colourful results, because GSMarena never mentions what settings they use while taking daytime photos. Which is a bummer. Now I'm just left confused 🤔 and disappointed 🫤.

Take the g84: better cameras than the g82, same SD695 chip set, 12/256 instead of 8/128, yet the g84 is £249 in the UK. The g82 was priced at £289.

The Edge 30 Neo was more like a g series phone with a flat screen, the same SD695 but without SD card or 3mm jack. It coulg only shoot 1080. Yet the g100 came with an SD870 but was called a g instead of an Edge, except in China where the g100 was called the Edge S.

                                  It's just marketing.

I also do not consider said setbacks innovative.

The 40 Neo is £299 in the UK on Amazon and the Motorola website. The only UK offering is 12gb/256gb.

The only Edge 30 Neo with SD695 chipset is normally
£349, but £329 on Amazon, and discounted to £299 on the Motorola website.

Neo just means new or innovative.

Dr. Watson, 21 Sep 2023"How come the fact the 40 Neo is a clear stepdown comp... moreI did not know the Neo was supposed to be the "new Lite". Nevertheless, I'd argue that
                                        1) How about actually calling it "Lite" or "Cheapo" instead of the clearly misleading "Neo", implying technical advantage?
                                        2) Regardless of what it's called or where Motorola execs envision it to be positioned in the market, the Neo in Europe is about 10% more expensive than the regular 40, so the usual comparison of the device under test to a price-eroded older model is still valid and necessary for an informed buyers decision. That is what GSMA blatantly misses with this review, and this irks me.
