Anonymous, 03 Oct 2023A phone is a phone is a phone... they all have cameras, pla... moreI change phones once they fail. And always lose something btw. Last noname?!? single cam, dual sim android gave up after 5 years. Got an A41 now, second hand and free and it a big step up in performance and hardware. I guess a premium phone now like this apple would be a huge suprize for me. People that change yearly or bi-yearly are spoiled, perscripted and don't know... plus people take tech tooo seriously.

Just like any other chipset, the A17 throttles its GPU down to 50%, so it can keep the phone from overheating during extensive hour-long GPU stress testing.
Are you serious? did the 8+ gen 1 and 2 throttles its GPU down to 50% too?
Why sugar coat it, its a hot SoC A16 is a much better choice for those looking for a phone or upgrade aka ip14pm

Jman, 03 Oct 2023Wait and see what Google offer. Pixel phones are underrated... moreIts their modems that kills them for me. Their mid tier SOCs are acceptable but the loss of network capability isn't. Using a Pixel is like being deprioritized out of the box.

Please note, on other benchmarks (or Geekbench/AnTuTu), there is a big drop in performance following update 17.0.3 tested with Wild Life Unlimited and Solar Bay Unlimited.

I am wondering if the display is a true 10bit panel or 8bit.

I just tried the main camera of the 15 Pro Max (which should have the same main camera as the 15 Pro) and I am shocked about the minimum focus distance. If you don't want to digitally zoom with the ultra wide angle camera, the minimum focus distance (of the main camera) is maybe approximately 20cm. A huge difference in comparison to other phones like Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, iPhone 13 Mini, S23 Ultra, etc. I think I never used a phone camera with such a high minimum focus distance for the main camera.

Its OS is not "clockwork". It has some really nesty bugs. For instance, you can't send the video over Viber or Telegram and be sure it will be sent if Viber or Telegram is not in front. And this is not Low Battery Mode. I could not use 14 pro max with Cozoy Takt Pro because it loosed audio sync and glitched. And so on.

Another Apple joke... the lenses outside, the frailty, the... colors. Titanium wow.

Note 20 Ultra 5G had a stainless steel frame, maybe the last phone with such an "achievement"...

Looks like a phone that pocketed 2-3 times will desintegrate and the lenses will stick to your jeans pocket.

Hard pass! There are SO SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS NOW.

A phone is a phone is a phone... they all have cameras, play music and connect to the internet... plus have that amazing ability to make and receive phone calls.

All Apple is doing is tweaking the spec a bit and calling it the 'next generation phone' so that they can maintain the cycle of at least some users buying 'this year's model' and junking their old 12 or 18 month old model which is, of course, perfectly OK. This allows Apple to maintain an all important income stream to boost their bottom line.

God forbit that customers should realise that any mobile is good for at least four or five years use and not keep on buying a new one every year.

The last big step in (re)inventing the phone was with Steve Jobs when presenting the original iPhone. That was a big step. From then on, it's just upping the specs, more performance, bigger screen, better cameras etc

Now that the smartphones are near perfect, and new upgrades look useless, they should just launch a new phone after every 2-3 years. This will give them chance to build a better device and more people will be inclined towards the new upgrade.
