Overheating issues, battery expands in a result of this.
Rear glass shatters from 1 st drop.
They must be nuts! All the pros the ihpones over android are now gone - rock solid strong, not overheating, not battery exapnsions.

Even so, and taking out the s23 ultra, which is a good phone, this is the best so far* the pixel 8 pro is missing, I don't know if Mororla will release something else, or Sony, the vivo x100 is coming...

Kaloyan, 01 Oct 2023It is downloaded. But! We are working right now on complete... moreGood stuff. Something I'd like to point for battery tests on Android devices is the need for them to optimize properly in the few days of usage, they usually required to be on idle and charging overnight after the usual setup for apps to optimize in the background. You can read some info about the technicals behind it here https://source.android.com/docs/core/runtime/jit-compiler
I say this because this affects the standby drain a lot, thus lowering your scores in many phones that haven't been optimized properly.

At a store, I compared the 15 Pro Max camera with my 7 Pro at approximately 370mm and I used Google's Night Sight (the iPhone didn't let me choose a night mode). The 7 Pro was much better (even without Night Sight). Actually you would expect the 7 Pro to be better due to the higher resolution of the sensor, but the difference was actually even more severe. The 15 Pro Max was noisier and it also produced a ton of machine learning fake details (an issue that already previous iPhones had). This becomes obvious when you take a photo of distant text. The text in the 370mm 15 Pro Max image looked sharper than in the 7 Pro image, but the text consisted completely (!) of wrong words and characters whereas the 7 Pro showed the correct characters/words. So regarding true details, the 7 Pro was much better. Overall, at 370mm, the 7 Pro was in a different league when compared with the 15 Pro Max.
Recently I also compared my 7 Pro with the S23 Ultra at 360mm (approximately 15x). I used Google's short Night Sight mode and the 7 Pro definitely slightly outperformed the S23 Ultra.
Most reviewers compare the 7 Pro's periscope without Night Sight or at 30x (a 2x crop from a 15x photo looks significantly better than a 30x photo because Google's image processing is very bad at 30x due to machine learning artifacts, which are usually not present at 15x) (and at 30x the S23 Ultra has similar machine learning problems as the iPhone), this makes a significant difference and makes the 7 Pro's periscope look worse than it actually is because it is actually class leading at 360mm + Night mode. But I also experienced that the sharpness of 7 Pro units varies, when I bought the 7 Pro.

We are working right now on completely revamping our battery life test and the new one will include video streaming, and a new better web browsing test with touch simulation every few seconds, so it can stay relevant with the new displays with dynamic refresh rates. We will launch it soon and we are going to test again many of the most recent phones we've reviewed since March/April.

JLC, 30 Sep 2023Look, you had quoted Apple's generic description from ... more"the only reason for 24 MP output in all 3 focal lengths is a distraction from the fact that it is basically a cropping and resizing as GSMArena demonstrated and the anonymous writer had pointed out"
I see that you are mixing up two topics into one. I was calling out the anonymous user for straight up making up nonsense that the 24MP image (at 1x, 24mm) is "upscaled" from 12MP - which is simply not true if you look at the official description AND the actual results itself, because the 12MP photos from iPhone 15 looks nowhere near as detailed as the default 24MP shots.
What GSMArena has pointed out is the fact that there's no difference in the level of details captured by the camera app's 24mm 1x mode, 28mm and 35mm modes respectively. This is pretty obvious because in 28/35mm modes the camera is simply cropping from the original 48MP image and resizing the final image to 24MP. While it's nice that they provide users multiple default "wide angle" field of view options, they were undeniably misleading people by presenting these crop settings as two independent lenses, which makes absolutely no sense.
The idea of digital teleconverter isn't new, premium prime lens cameras from Leica and Fujifilm have had that for years and Sony has had a APS-C crop mode on its full frame bodies since forever. However Apple was implying that using the crop settings somehow does not lead to image quality degradation, and they totally deserve to be called out for that.
TLDR: The anonymous user lied so I pointed that out. Apple did mislead the audience in the presentation but that's not the topic that the anonymous user was discussing in the first place.
