Focuses on too much AI and not catching up with it's competitors

The Tensor is holding up just fine with performance, give that bullcrap a rest. Problem is optimization. E.g. Genshin stutters quite a bit in an area at first, though it's ok later. There's hoping Mihoyo fixes that, seems like they gotta optimize. In terms of performance in benchmarks, my P8P is at least close to the SD Gen 2. But again, doesn't help if the apps aren't optimized for it, so that's gonna suck for a while. As for UFS 3.1, yeah, wow, you only get a max of 2900 MB/s instead of 5900 MB/s...really, you're gonna survive an extra second opening the largest games available. Calm down. Next time do please check your numbers, though. UFS 3.1 was introduced in 2020. You're 2 years off.

Which means, its worse than last years snap 8 gen 1, especially on the Gpu part.
In gaming, its probably worse than Snap888.

Does it sound great for a late 2023 flagship that costs 1100, with promised 7years of OS updates?

Amazing how google can squeeze every last drop of perf from middle class sensors.
Almost king of the hill regarding photography and video getting closer to the iphones. G3 not as bad as people complain, lack of usd 4.0 surprises me .. . Still to me overpriced but pixels get bigger discounts than iphones usually at least where I live. Waiting for 8a...

Whilst I love the pixel 8 pro there is liturally no reason to buy this phone for the AI features in Europe as half the stuff I bought it for does t work here . Like massages re write or formulating. Summarize an article using assistant and spam calls Block and notifications.

I'm beyond disappointed how is this right ?? You buying. A phone for its features and then they do t tell you that you can't use it in Europe where I'm at. This is where apple is still long all feature work everywhere the same . Google should really try to bring out a feature to everyone at the same time .

                          This is terrible

this is not a flagship ... just a midrange Photography phone with very high price

                            still ufs 3.1 from 2018
                            weak cpu/gpu

Noe that We have real life review again the pixel failed miserablby to live to full expectations

The brightest display ever of android maybe but not the best available the iPhone 15 pro max shows that it performs better

Better soc maybe (at least improved) but it still throttles under load and still behind the competition because of Google stubbornness of not accepting that Qualcomm is still the better player after apple own chips which are in another league of thei lr own

7 years of updates we will discuss that later after the full 7 years. So it remains for now if this is valid or not after their promises for now we have to take google word

Long story short why should people take the new pixel instead an iPhone ?
Aside from Google own exclusive features (useful or not) I don’t see any other reason to choose a pixel. That’s just me who after 14 years got fed up of android and decided to move on and get an iPhone .im glad that I did it
I also would love to know how long pixel users stay with their phone. 7 years looks way too much for an android user but maybe I’m wrong about this. I never stayed longer than 2 years with any android and I tried several of them.

Of course, no vapor chamber. If they put one may be it might perform better

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2023And even in low light conditions, there are many cases wher... moreWhen you stare at the neon lights, your pupils contract but when you shift gaze to a dark area, your pupils dilate and take sometime to adjust and see an image. The eyes do see more dynamic range but these are two different focus points. If you take a look at the night time sample photos here of the Pixel 8 pro, they really not true to the actual scene. When you focus your gaze on the lighting, the sky should be a lot darker. Only when you shift your gaze to the sky will you see cloud detail, and it takes some time for your eyes to adjust. The image therefore has brighter shadows that you normally don't see in one gaze/one eye focus. It is for this reason, I say the image is hyperreal, more than what the eyes usually see in one gaze/focus. The images tend to show more color and details and higher brightness especially in the shadow areas which human eyes normally do not see anymore in the actual scene at that instance. It's a different case if you are talking about how much the eyes can see in terms of its total dynamic range. You can never replicate it in a jpeg which has limited dynamic range. You tonemap the image to approximate the actual scene but sometimes the tonemapping ends up cartoony if not done right.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2023I was talking about the daylight dynamic range and in that ... moreYes you do see more dynamic range at daytime than what the Pixel can capture because the cones which are active at daytime adapt a lot faster than our rods in low lighting conditions. For very bright light sources which our pupils can no longer handle, we squint our eyes to be able to see detail in very bright light sources. Tthen when moving our gaze to the shadow areas, we open our eyes normally and our pupil dilates to allow our eyes to see more detail in shadow areas. HDR photography can actually capture that large dynamic range - you can do it manually by bracketing several images and merging later in a single HDR photo. The Pixel's computational photography does the same but since it is fully automated, it only covers for the most typical high dynamic range scenes and cannot adequately capture some scenes that are more extreme in terms of dynamic range. What you do is you take at least 3 exposures with your Pixel (one under exposed for the highlights, one normal exposure, and another, overexposed for the shadows). You manually combine the three exposures to form 1 HDR image. You then use an HDR editing app for merging on the Pixel. You'll need steady hands or a tripod for best results. Alternatively, you can download Open camera app from the Playstore and shoot in HDR mode. It performs better than the default Pixel camera for some very high dynamic range scenes during daytime.
