I have this phone sin... moreIt's an optical fingerprint sensor, not an ultrasonic one like on flagship phones.
It's also slower than side-mounted fingerprint sensors.
Therefore, it is mediocre.

I owned this phone and there's no lag of problem with smoothness and performance what's so ever. It operates quite well actually and is one of the main reasons so many people rave about it.

After moving from the A90 to the A54, I am beyond pleased with everything the A54 has to offer. Obviously you can tell it isn't an S-series phone, but it is also not S-series pricing!
No major issues so far, occasionally the fingerprint sensor needs a 2nd try, but a quick wipe of my finger and it is fine.
I think Samsung (or any other company) will have to come out with something very special for me to move away from the A54

Mediocre fingerprint sensor....what?
I have this phone since launch and never ONCE had an issue with the fingerprint sensor. WTF do these GSMarena blokes smoke?

It literally lagged and crashed out in a speed test on YT, and people reported issues on Twitter as well
In 2023 a lagging mid-ranger is inexcusable, and they called it out rightfully in this review

rizki1, 02 Dec 2023People think of the GSMArena unit fault, if you have watche... moreHey, you dont even own this phone, i gave my s21 fe to my brother and already got A14 OneUI 6, and its not laggy, s21 fe is warmer than a54 but still on its good performance, my mother's a51 still working good too, if s21 fe still working good then a54 should be ok too, dont talk as you long term owner of samsung device, its warm, yes its warm, its not fast, indeed its not fast, atleast its not forcing ads to appear like your phone does.

For the price segment, it surely is not delivering the basic user experience. I mean I can understand a lagtastic cheap Helio G35 phone with eMMC. But this is a premium mid-range with quad performance cores. It has no reason to be stuttering for basic UI interaction.
