Ultima 9, 15 Dec 2023the geekbench score is now in 2870-2890s for exynos 1380 wh... moreThing is - it also scores 2700-2800 in Geekbench 5. Why is it a problem? Because pretty much every other Android SOC got a nice boost in multicore score going from Geekbench 5 to Geekbench 6. Not A54. Maybe Exynos 1380 doesn't support something that everyone else does but it's still bad for Samsung.

With a better chipset like ludicrously expensive 7+Gen 2 it would cost $100 more and noone would buy it. Dimensity 7200 perhaps (and Eynos for the A34)?

And the Tab S9 fe is being praised as a midrange tablet. ? When you could rather get an iPad. No comparison processor-wise

Here is another screenshot of a54 reaching a geekbench score of 2892 multi core score today

If you don't believe me then check these geekbench score screenshots out
            Before android 14 update:

            It's basically the same (2888 vs 2870)

the geekbench score is now in 2870-2890s for exynos 1380 which is more than sd 778g o sd 778g+. the battery life is better than any phone in the price range after using the phone for first 2 weeks. the ui is adaptive and learns the usage. i can easily finish a day with moderate usage and have 60% left. after light usage i have 70%+ left. after heavy usage i have about 35-45% left.

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2023You act as the Eynos 1380 didn't it's not AS efficient.

That's even more embarassing when you realise that the E1380 is made with a smaller manufacturing process (5nm for the E1380 vs 6nm for the SD778G), so it should've automatically be more efficient, but it isn't.

fbozkurt, 12 Dec 2023I'm using this phone for over 2 months now. My previou... morewell my a54 is definitely faster than all a and m series phone came before it. i can see it in real life and also the geekbench score is higher than those phones. after one ui 6 i tested it and geekbench score is 2870. before the update it was 2888. But its basically the same. i compared my a54's screen to a52 side by side and i can confirm that a54 is just brighter and more elegant to look at.

The A54 is the choppiest, laggy device? That's highly debatable. I've had the A54 for a while now and I find the performance in this phone very smooth and acceptable enough. It does deal with some stutters especially with intense multitasking but not what I would call "choppy". I had the A53 for a bit and it also was nowhere near as bad as they made it out to be.

I switched from Galaxy M51 and using this phone from three weeks, screen quality of Galaxy M51 was far better then Galaxy A54, Moreover, Galaxy A54 has low battery time and thick in size as compared to other phones. I only like it's IP67 rating and camera performance, i am currently using its cameras for my YouTube videos and i am satisfy from it. I have no complaint from it's all over performance (don't know why people complaining about it's processor performance) i am doing very high end tasks i.e video editing in 4k but this device doesn't lag, while exporting the video the device heats up but it's not big issue. Samsung should consider to improve battery, thickness and screen quality in its phone.

I'm using this phone for over 2 months now. My previous phone was Samsung M52. I've used it for 2 years and I can confidently say m52 was much faster in terms of performance. And battery life was slightly better. Almost 2x thinner than A54 and weighed lower. But overall it's still an upgrade because A54's camera is just better. Thanks to OIS. A54's build quality is also outstanding. It feels like a premium device. In the end it's not a performance phone. Even when scrolling it feels laggy.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2023This review is just hating A54 for having Exynos. It is exp... moreI had the Poco F3 and while it felt quite snappier and was obviously a lot more powerful (while costing me the same this A54 did but more than 2 years earlier, mind you), I too disagree.

While the Exynos is no powerhouse, I rarely experienced any freezes or stutters (and by rarely I mean that I can count the number of times it has happened with the fingers of one hand) nor in any way the phone gave me the impression that is struggling to keep up with my fingers.

Again, it's not the smoothest for the price, but it's not a slow laggy mess like this review and some people are making it seem to be. It is annoying though that Samsung chose to cut corners and not give it an adequately powerful Qualcomm SoC.

sxy2101, 12 Dec 2023I've never owned a Samsung phone and frankly the A ser... moreBro thinks because he doesn't use the cameras, nobody else does and because he didn't get any bugs, nobody else does lol.

As a matter of fact, there are people who might want a decent camera for a reduced price, yes.

And as another fact, out of all Xiaomi (and it's sub brands) phones I've owned (5 to be precise), all were buggy one way or another. Some even had significant bugs that put a halt to what I could use the phone for.
Forget about software updates, Xiaomis usually don't even get bug fixing updates, or they get it but still manages to break another thing that was previously working fine.

That's where brands like Motorola and Samsung excel. You're not gonna get a "slick" poweful phone, not to the level of Chinese phones at least, but you get something some of us value more: A reliable phone.

Not to try to excuse Samsung's curner cutting with this and other phones of course, but credit where credit's due.

I've never owned a Samsung phone and frankly the A series is an overpriced rip-off. The A series look like toys rather than serious phones. Large, heavy and plasticy. As for night photos, Stop going on about them! Who gives a shit? Unless your a vampire. And as for Xiaomi, I've had a redmi 10s coming up to it's EOL. Never had a single bug, lag, or issue. I love it. Yes photo quality could be better when zooming in, but it only cost me £150, so I don't expect flagship quality. And it makes the Samsung A series look like garbage.

Poco F5 is a beast when it comes to performance

Definitely the Exynos processors are laggy and need to avoid at that price. But due to monopoly , whoever looking for non-chineese there is no alternative to consider. that is why the Samsung is taking benefit. Else other companies are far better when they are providing the mobiles at low cost.
If at all they are putting so much effort on software optimization. they can consider to provide vanila version with no added bloatware. Just give what Google is providing.

Some years back when pixel is not there. we do have some Android one program at that time I bought Xiaomi A1 which is Android one device , that was good in all possible ways even camera was outstanding.

But now Google or manufactures are avoiding Android one program.
