Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G review

One question always strikes me whenever multiple variants of Xiaomi's Redmi/Poco budget phones are reviewed:
"Why can't they simply combine the best of each of these mid-rangers and create the ultimate Redmi and Poco mid-range value smartphone as one, with the Redmi and Poco HyperOS takes on each, respectively, instead?"
Because surely, this phone's camera and audio hardware, if combined with the Redmi Note 13 Pro+'s build materials and quality, and Poco X6 Pro's SoC, would make for an unbeatable mid-range king.
Something tells me that Xiaomi is actually cooking this aleeady, and will be represented by the Poco F6 Pro banner for Poco, and I believe it is the Redmi K70 Pro for Redmi. Who knows, but how I wish they didn't split these great hardware among multiple variants.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2024The Exynos 1330 of A14 5G is better Snapdragon 7+Gen2
It equips the Poco F5 which is at the same price as this Redmi Note 13 Pro.

2x crop zoom samples look really nice, but while the 4x also seems surprisingly OK, it lacks microcontrast and it's pretty obvious the lens is being pushed to a limit at this magnification. At this point, it would be better to have a dedicated 3x 50MP (JN1 would suffice) telephoto camera and call it a day, but I guess this phone is a midrange phone for a reason.

MRSTEK, 21 Jan 2024Driving a 200MP camera using G99 is nothing but hilarious. This is G99-Ultra which seems to have an upgraded ISP as plain G99 doesn't support 200MP sensor.

Still can't fathom on why Xiaomi put 200mp camera on a phone that can't record 4k@60fps.

Unfortunately, battery test is as bad as it was before. It's impossible to get a picture of real life battery performance without stand-by assessment numbers.

Cons:
"Does not ship with Xiaomi's latest HyperOS, but gets MIUI 14 and Android 13 out of the box with plenty of ads in the UI."
