You need to retest the battery performance again as the Magic 6 can easily beat iPhone 15 Pro max and S24 Ultra

This definitly has the best hardware at a low zoom range, so I guess If you take a lot of portraits this phone is for you. I think the previous 3.5x zoom was more reasonable, but I guess chasing the big number gets you more attention.

jiyen235, 26 Feb 2024Bro those DxO mark rankings don't matter even to an av... moreDid you even read what I wrote? Don't look at the scores, decide yourself as they're always comparing the phone to iphone 15 pro max so it's pretty easy to know what you're buying. They write what's lacking in the photo without a mistake.
As for Vivo X100 Pro, the reason you like it is because photos look good on the first glance but as soon as you compare it to FX7U you'll see how much texture they lack and why is it placed below even the FX6P.

I said final scores might be bs but the tests themselves are the best there are so what's wrong with that

Wesker, 26 Feb 2024Meanwhile Find X7 Ultra has been "in for review" ... moreExactly! Let's hope GSMArena is redoing all the tests..3rd time by now..and running the latest software version when they release the test - else it'll be unacceptable for it to be delayed this much as previous software was really bad in terms of camera AF.
I had to spend weeks on YouTube watching cringe Asian people reviewing FX7U, X100P, Magic6, 14P/U...to decide to get a FX7U but damn if GSMArena only wasn't that slow I'd know immediately lol. I'll come to Bulgaria and review it in their stead I guess..

Meanwhile Find X7 Ultra has been "in for review" for a month and a half (45 days) now.
I believe that's a review much more anticipated than this or even 14 Ultra's.
What's going on here?

The cameras are doing pretty well here for photos in daylight and nighttime. However, I think compared to other high end flagships the zoom range is a bit small with the 2.5x periscope. It's find in the default and ok at 5x but it can't really cope with longer zoom ranges at all. Will be interesting to see what Vivo does with this sensor on their periscope on the x100 ultra. Also, would like to see Honor improve their video processing more in the future. Their weakness lies more in video quality rather than photos.

rosesarerosie, 25 Feb 2024Nice phone, but I expected more from the telephoto
It had ... moreThe point of the 180 megapixel sensor is getting more detail due to the small pixel size (likely 0.56 micrometer). But the point is: Gsmarena failed to test the potential of the 180 megapixel sensor because one would expect that Honor uses the sensor in its 2.24 micrometer Bayer mode (16-1 binning) at 68mm, in its 1.12 micrometer Quad Bayer mode (4-1 binning) at 135mm and in its 0.56 micrometer Tetra²pixel mode at 270mm. But gsmarena didn't show us 270mm photos. Though, the Tetra²pixel color filter array (likely the case here) is an issue.
For example, my Google Pixel 7 Pro uses the periscope sensor in its 1.4 micrometer Bayer mode at 120mm and in its 0.7 micrometer Quad Bayer mode at 240mm.

The lens is pretty impressively sharp for F1.4, showing virtually no sign of loss of contrast or resolution from F2.0. I would say the lens produces fairly smooth bokeh for extreme close-up shots, but it definitely rears its ugly head when capturing a lot of bokeh balls at a medium distance - Tons of onion rings inside deformed highlights - But that's where most smartphone manufacturers compromise their optics so this is perfectly expected.
I appreciate that they toned down the sharpening significantly compared to Magic5 Pro, though. Also, low light photos no longer look extremely smeared which is also a big plus over its predecessor. Overall a solid camera system, but if I were to complain, I expected quite a bit more from its 5x shots.

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2024Go see what digital chat station said about them few years ... moreDxOMark has a detailed article about how their testing protocol works and they even revealed the weighting of each test category and how they add up to formulate the total score recently. You can't just believe in the "Leakers said it's sus so it must be bribed" theory, especially when those "leakers" don't live in the same country that the company resides in and they can make up whatever the random s*** they want to without having a risk of getting sued.
Look, say what you want about how the scores are calculated, but it doesn't change the fact that they are the most open and scientific website when it comes to conducting a smartphone camera test, and nobody else even comes close, end of story.

xslvrxslwt, 25 Feb 2024Rankings maybe but the tests themselves are awesome / the b... moreBro those DxO mark rankings don't matter even to an average consumer anymore due to their shadiness. See the Vivo X100 Pro review. "Realistic color rendering". Tell me this, why is it that the new phone is ALWAYS 1 to 2 points above the old ones? And consistently it's been Honor, Huawei, Google and Apple. That's because they're paid to adjust the overall rating so that the product comes out on top and they can brag about it. These phones are great but the ranking is absolutely trash. I'm no professional photographer but even I can see the bogus methods. They put in random ahh values each time and balance the scores out to put one phone above the other. Take the Find X6 and compare it to the X100 Pro, ain't no way the X100 Pro is below the Find X6 in photography lmao like you could say it's worse or at least on par with the X6 Pro, but not the Find X6. Also, listen to the Honor and tell me if this phone really is worthy of being 2nd in audio. The Black Shark 5 was legendary but so are the ROG Phones. They tweaked the results so that they could put as much emphasis on the recording points as possible and that inflated the overall score and put it to 2nd place and its playback rating is the same as the ROG Phone 7 like bruh it's getting ridiculous, the ROG Phone has worse timbre and more artifacts? Yeah sure man.

Ye it is very competitive, only phone that beats it in terms of price is the OnePlus but that doesn't have proper waterproofing, and also worse performance.

In some European countries (e.g. Germany and Spain) there is a 300 euro coupon if you pre-order which drops the price to 1000 euro (buying directly from Honor's website). In the UK there is a 200 pounds coupon which drops it to 900 pounds. For 512gb of storage that makes it a very competitive price

RicardoG, 25 Feb 2024In selfie apart is number 1, same of screen, sound quality,... moreI've been watching numerous comparisons of X100P, FX7U, Magic6Pro, S24U, 15PM... and Magic6P wasn't even comparable in any of the categories - all subpar quality. So believe me, I've been watching them for weeks as I need to get a new phone ( & ordered FX7U as it suits me the most ) and last year I almost got a Magic5Pro so don't think I hate honor for any reason. I sell Chinese phones so all of them go through my hands even before they're released publicly so I have plenty of time myself to figure it out as well

"The huge 180MP isn't just for 2.5x zoom though - it captures high-quality 5x stills too."
Gsmarena, you forgot to review the most interesting feature of this phone:
The 270mm photos. A 180 megapixel sensor allows for a 4x crop at 11.25 megapixels.
2x2x67.5mm =270mm (The tele camera is equivalent to 61mm, but Honor uses a crop for 2.5x27mm=67.5mm )
For example, Android Authority wrote: "HONOR saying this camera covers focal lengths from 68mm to 270mm"
This 180 megapixel sensor can be likely read out as an 11.25 or 45 or 180 megapixel sensor. The 11 megapixel mode would be used at 68mm, the 45 megapixel mode would be used at 135mm and the 180 megapixel mode would be used at 270mm.
One issue is the Tetra²pixel array, which the sensor likely uses.

This review is just a confirmation of the Chinese ones that something wrong gone with camera processing. Pictures are oversharpened, 5x zoom is already looking artificial. 200MP still seems to be a gimmick, 50MP/64MP are the best resolutions. Maybe VIVO x100 Pro+ will prove me wrong, but it's still not confirmed they will use 200MP periscope lens.
