Honor Magic6 Pro review

Attention everyone!! You'll see Honor used DxO ranking #1 @ their WMC presentation - which is true until you read the test itself. Open Selfie test of Magic6 and in literally every scenario iPhone won (skin color, white balance, video too (not simply won, OBLITERATED Magic6, Magic6 looks worse than the Find X6 Pro with camera issues (red face, desaturation, etc.))) and they still awarded Magic6 more points for some bs! So be aware they're paying sites to give them higher rates.

p.s. im not commenting other tests except selfie as I'm not a professional in any of those areas so be aware of that too, photography either but this is so obvious.

also I've already used a Magic6 a few weeks ago (cn version with 100w charger) and it was good, display was stunning but damn cameras are for sure nowhere near #1 spot

Best Amoled screen on the market.

great battery life as expected, screen is nice and bright as well. Camera is a bit of a let down because even 5x looks artificial, what's the point of 180 MP if I can't do even 2x crop without it looking weird? Like I expected a "lossless" kind of 4x-ish crop, so 10x. Maybe Honor hasn't properly optimized its algorithm idk. I commend them for the different modes, everyone's catching up to Xiaomi and Vivo's imaging modes now it seems, and I love it! Speakers are a bit of a weird change, I preferred the old sound but people have different preferences ig. Selfies look pretty damn mediocre to me though, like a midranger or something, they seem to have a solid sensor, just needs some work in terms of processing and optimization it seems.
What I'm confused about is how tf does Honor charge this huge ahh 5600 mah battery with "only" 66 w so quickly? Like yeah it's a bit slower than Vivo and Oneplus but the charging speeds are faster than the bloody Magic5 Pro whilst having a 500 mah larger battery. Am I the only one tweaking or is this just absolutely incredible!?
Anyways, not a bad phone but certainly a bit weird to go down from 3.5x to 2.5x with weird looking 5x zoom. Hope Honor fixes it or something. Certainly a far better offer than last year's one after comparing them to the competition. But still, just like Xiaomi, software is not worthy of that high price tag and I think if someone wants a superb camera system an Oppo, Xiaomi or Vivo can do the trick with better software.

The 5x samples are atrocious considering the humongous sensor they're cropped from. Can't wait for the X100 Pro+ and its 200MP zoom sensor, Vivo clearly has superior cropping algorithms.

Anonymous, 25 Feb 2024It's at least not as lazy as Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs 13 Ult... moreYeah, but it'll take a while untill it will drop to $900

It's at least not as lazy as Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs 13 Ultra (barely no changes, high price hike)

But I don't know if this is "good value", 1300 euro is a lot, but Magic 5 Pro did drop a lot in my country because of very poor sales (they go for 780 euro now)

So if this one drops to under 900 euro, that would be a better deal compared to 5 Pro.

I can't believe that pea-green and rosegold combo is a global release but the much prettier White version is China-only 🤦🏻‍♂️
