The exynos 1480 is actually quite impressive and a big upgrade over its predecessor. However, apart from that the phone is very similar to last year's model in other areas

update camera, 28 Mar 2024I ask, but is Samsung capable or not of making a software u... moreA54 user here. There's nothing lousy about the photos it takes at least to my eye. Photos look natural, not over processed or over sharpened. And I'm on the latest android version and security patch. I think people give it an unfairly hard time just based on its spec sheet.
Also the phone isn't laggy or slow at all, despite me having more than a 100 tabs open on the browser at times. I think people just look at the med range cpu on the spec sheet and bash it without ever using it :)

I ask, but is Samsung capable or not of making a software update to the cameras of the a55 and a54, or does the fact that they take lousy photos compared to the competition not really interest them?

The lack of AV1 support is a museum these days. Then it is not a smartphone that will last for years.

"The Mali-G88 MP5 GPU, however, has been replaced by the Xclipse 530 GPU, co-developed with AMD and based on the RDNA 2 architecture."
It is RDNA 2, but according to Samsung's official website, the A55 doesn't support AV1 decoding, or someone forgot to write about it. :/

778G was all about efficiency and battery life, there was sd 870, 860 and dimensity 8100 at that time but they fill different category.
7+ gen 2 is more of 870 successor for Enthuasist market.

Pumpino, 27 Mar 2024Massive bezels, a poor fingerprint sensor, an ordinary came... moreEvery year, same disscussions. So what's the conclusion?
Xiaomi always looking better because they have 2 or 3 version of the same phone through the year. They are constantly making new phones, because they have a different bussiness model then anyone else on the market. But who cares right?
And you.. phone elitists and geeks all around the globe knows they have to pump new models all the time and that they have software issues...
But who fricking cares right? Xiaomi has always look better in design and specs then Samsung or any western brand phone, because of their bussiness model. I know.. who fricking cares for Xiaomi different bussiness model because all you care is pricing and specs right? And those are ALWAYS better then anything from west. Who cares why. Nobody! Rightttt.

1989 nothinghappened, 27 Mar 2024Finally a worthwhile soc upgrade over a52s, too bad it took... moreIs it though?
That old Qualcomm Snapdragon (QSD 778) was an ex-flagship level of performance and efficiency and didn't skimp on the extras. At the time, I said Samsung made a mistake with that phone and I was right, they were quick to discontinue it. It was SO GOOD for its time and value. I mean Late-2021 versus Early-2024 and we are still talking about it.
The only thing similar was the QC 7g2+ that released in Late-2022 and that thing was equally potent and value. But we've hardly seen that on the market. Seems like both Qualcomm and OEMs don't want to cannibalize their premium markets. So they are arbitrarily holding the market back in pursuit of more profits.
