Sony Xperia 1 VI review

"Sony even provides a charging limiter, so you can avoid overcharging ad set it to 80% or 90%."

This has nothing to do with overcharging. It's to prevent the battery from staying at high voltages that degrade it faster. Please edit your review and fix the many typos present.

Damn that throttling.... its like going from s8gen3 to 855 in few minutes...

But still price of it make it a joke, that phone should cost MAX 800$

What Sony is doing with these phones is legendary.
Basically unique in this perfect zero BS designs that check all boxes, year after year ..and going under the radar year after year.
      Shame!!

NeonHD, 15 May 2024You write that as if we don't share the same opinion. ... moreThey should have but they didn't, I was reading around, according to gossip, Sony is receiving money from Chinese manufacturers so that the one-inch sensors are only exclusive to those brands, and it makes perfect sense, because if not, why would the Sony itself does not use its own flagship sensors in its phones!! Let's see if from here to summer the prices drop a little, for 900 dollars it would be a good option to the Pixel 9 Pro XL and if you find one in red uffff I wouldn't care about the panel or the 6.5 screen

I don't care what anybody says. Sony is back.

these GSM Arena tests are always very good. I look forward to purchasing it when it comes out in 3~4 weeks. I am delighted with the sound quality but unfortunately the red color does not come out in our country (Switzerland). It will therefore be Platinum Silver because it already had khaki green (1 V)

Anonymous, 15 May 2024Should be 5040 x 2160, not any of these two you mention. You write that as if we don't share the same opinion.

I'm just saying: if not 4K, then give us 2K. If not 2K, then give us 1.5K.

How does the company that makes Alpha cameras always manage to put subpar cameras in their phones? Seriously...
Still major and good improvements, especially if we get 3-4 years of major/security updates but still too expensive for what it is. After all basically same cams, no Gen 4 SoC, only FHD+ over 2k and still comes in an empty paper egg tray.
Xiaomi 14 and Samsung S24 can both be had for under 900 EUR in EU. Price shouldn't be above 1199 EUR, otherwise simply not competitive.

HTC Droid DNA released in 2012 which was the first phone with FHD screen, has sharper screen than 2024 photography focused Xperia flagship. Feel free to check yourself but here's a comparison:

                  Xperia 1 VI: 396.49 PPI

                  HTC Droid DNA: 440.58 PPI

Imagine buying a phone for £1,300 in 2024 and looking at a screen that is less sharp than the screen of the phone that released 12 years ago.

                  Let that sink in...

Shamrock Sean, 15 May 2024What's so hilarious about this?? It's not funny 🙄Hiralious? The fact after 12 months many here do not know exmor T has 2x light sensitivity of exmor RS of same size.

Imx888 is less than 50% of imx989 size , but its ability to absorb light is 83% compared to it.
                    Let alone a 1/1.28" ....

Find N3 was reviewed before it got rebranded as OnePlus Open for international market.

They needed time to oppo make software updates to improve cam since results are never on pair with hardware, much worse than other type1.0

GSMA should definitely put on a giant disclaimer on top so people know this is sample unit and not the final product. All they have done so far is some tiny texts blended into the article.
This should not be a full review since the phone is just annonced and not released yet, i read through it and there are lots of things that they said will be different in the retail unit, yet there's no line indicating that in the intro or verdict. Obviously there are a lot to iron out in terms of software and brands will do it in the form of firmware update, GSMA should be more transparent about that, as people will look at articles like this and assume that the final product will have the same problems.

The reviewers can express their own opinion, but I can speak for myself that for once I prefer the fingerprint sensor on the side and it works well for me also when I unlock the phone when holding it in my left hand or when it lays on the table. So to say that people that use their phones this way would not like such placement is an overstatement. To be so sure that people wouldn't like the side sensor, I would have to assume that they are left-handed and they often would like to unlock their phone with their left hand WHILE it lays flat on the table, which statistically is not the most common, but indeed happens. Although I would argue that left-handed people could easily switch to their right hand just for that, given that I managed to learn how to operate chopsticks with both hands.
