Why 163 on DXO?

I don't really understand how Huawei can output 12.5mp 27mm images from a 22.5mm lens without major resolution loss even with the best multi frame techniques.

I bought last year's P60 as the main camera on every phone is too wide now, 23 and 24mm is far too wide for my preference.

I found that the resolution of the images did seem lower in many cases than other phones, that Huawei upscales and adds artificial detail to try and compensate.

Ideally I wish phone makers would not go any wider than 27mm for the main camera, and find ways to deal with a smaller sensor or darker lens, but they've stopped bothering as much with computational photography now and simply just keep using larger sensors with wider focal lengths.

Hate or love Huawei, but its first time in many reviews we have camera that when taking picture of grass/foliage show grass/foliage, not blurred mess or super processed spaghetti...

Once again my post was deleted for daring to criticise the very very strange scoring practice giving this phone a 4.4 when it costs 1500 euro (500 more than substantially better phones) for a 3 year old android version with a midrange chipset, no 5g, bad audio and questionable cameras.

Compared to its Kirin-powered predecessors (e.g. Mate 40/30 Pro), shadows seem to be lifted out of proportion, and certain tones such as greens in grass/leaves look oddly lifeless.

When many other Chinese manufacturers are trying to achieve more authentic and timeless looks with their JPEG processing, Huawei's colour rendition seems a bit garish yet lacking in character at the same time.

This phone will make the Sony Pro-C look like a steal :))

Before, Huawei phones had more pros than cons in the reviews.

Now, in the same reviews they already have the same number of pros and cons ... and the price has not dropped.

I recommend an Honor Magic 6 Pro much more than this Huawei phone.

I don't know what people are seeing but I'm seeing extremely crisp and detailed photos with accurate colours. Has anyone looked at the reflection in the glass of the building? The feathers on the crow? The stem in the flower? That's up there with some DSLR cameras.

The videos look fine to me. Just not as crisp or colourful as the still images.

I don't know why 5G doesn't work in Europe. Maybe it's the carriers. But it apparently works in other parts of Asia.

[deleted post]Logic did. And you clearly don't think logically. You only believe what you're told without even checking the facts. And nothing is more logic, especially since it has been proven, that literally all smartphone companies and tech companies in general spy through their devices and use your data. Kids these days know that much better than you. So don't blame Huawei that they were caught spying/selling your data, because all companies do, and that should very logically lead you to realize that there were plenty of other reasons that led to Huawei's ban.

                      Useless device outside of China.

As expected, Huawei's photos are more artificial than just artificially enhanced. Everything at night looks like it's out of an AI photo generator. Details in the day look like they were made up.

Great cameraphone for people who want to click photos and not think about it anymore, fast shutter speed, reliable software for the most part and wow the selfie game is on point. But the artificial look is something I dislike in modern phones and Huawei has gone for it harder and harder ever since they released the Mate 50 Pro. This might net them higher dxomark scores but the photos just don't look nice. They look uncannily bad, like something's bad but it's hard to point it out.

10x zoom shots are a joke for the most part, they should've stuck with 7x lossless crops and offered the 10x as well so that people can get the lossless one first. Anyways, good phone, not for me at all. The Find X7 Ultra's natural way of processing things and also Xiaomi's processing is just gonna be superior to me. Vivo is the perfect middle ground between Huawei type artificial and Oppo/Xiaomi type natural processing. Huawei thinks noise is bad and should be eradicated but noise is part of the image, let some of it stay there and provide the detail, it looks good when it is fairly untouched.

Anonymous, 22 May 2024I think you need to look at better reviews of this device. ... moreYes, quite frankly speaking, the fact that the only moving subject GSMArena could find during the review period was a small pigeon is extremely questionable. The staff could've run around or waved their hands in an indoor backlight scene and compared them with flagships from other brands that claim to be good at handling moving objects (Xiaomi, Oppo, Apple, Google, Sony etc).

the review did not address the potential issue of dust and moisture ingress (which leads to smudges, dust spots and fungus growth) by the movable main camera and how it's mitigated. this was an issue with point and shoot of the past.

US never able to give concrete proofs that Huawei spy on American interests (their main reason to put Huawei in the Entity List, in case you dont know about this).

They only have circumstantial evidence like Huawei founder is a former PLA officer and Huawei supply equipments to PLA and other Chinese agencies. Samsung also supply equipments to US DoD and military, so we can also safely assume Samsung help USA to spy on other countries?

Some youtubers have tested it with fast moving subjects. Kids, pets, cars, etc. It is hands down THE best camera phone for anyone who shoots those things. GSMArena didn't really cover it which is unfortunate. I've yet to see a phone that revolutionized photos since the P30 Pro with its night mode. I've a feeling others will copy the AI usage to handle motion going forward.

This will be the first Huawei I've bought since the P30 Pro. GBox and alternate apps will make GMS forgettable finally. I'm only giving up banking apps and Google pay. Oh well! Bye bye google!
