walkman8, 21 May 2024Plenty of folks, but the right question is: Is it worth buy... moreI think you need to look at better reviews of this device. Some youtubers have tested it with fast moving subjects. Kids, pets, cars, etc. It is hands down THE best camera phone for anyone who shoots those things. GSMArena didn't really cover it which is unfortunate. I've yet to see a phone that revolutionized photos since the P30 Pro with its night mode. I've a feeling others will copy the AI usage to handle motion going forward.

This will be the first Huawei I've bought since the P30 Pro. GBox and alternate apps will make GMS forgettable finally. I'm only giving up banking apps and Google pay. Oh well! Bye bye google!

Not bad at all. Well done, all things considered.

I don't see a lot of problem with the photos coming out of its 3.5x telephoto camera, but the main camera suffers from a fair number of issues which unfortunately puts it far behind Xiaomi and Oppo in terms of my personal preference. I still prefer the output from the ancient Mate 30 Pro over the Pura 70 Ultra as far as the straight-out-of-camera JPEG rendition goes.

Not having an option to reduce the sharpening in one way or another is also a minus - Huawei, Honor, Apple, Sony (and possibly Vivo too? I can't remember for sure) still don't have this option anywhere in their camera apps, which is disappointing for sure.

Images are horrible overprocessed mess but somehow, they've managed to make video even worse. This has to be the worst flagship camera phone of the year.

Anonymous, 21 May 2024Funny how ppl here believe 9000s and 9010 are any different... more9000s and 9010 are manufactured by SMIC instead of TSMC, use a different CPU configuration (The Taishan cores support hyperthreading unlike the stock Arm X/A7xx series cores) from 9000 and feature entirely custom-designed Maloon GPUs.

It would be beyond ridiculous to assume that it is somehow just a slightly modified version of 9000 when it has been shown numerous times that they are completely different, here you're the only one who believes in your own conspiracy theory.

Upon further inspection, I realised why P70 Ultra's photos look a bit "off" in many situations. Sharpening isn't a problem (It looks fairly restrained to my eyes), but an aggressive HDR tonemapping and local contrast boost to emphasise details give these photos a very iPhone-esque look. I don't see any tint or colour shift caused by its RYYB CFA, but everything looks as if it has been imported to Lightroom and the clarity boost has been set to 50. These photos have a hard tonality which I'm simply not a fan of.

I think the sheer amount of effort put into the development of motion compensation algorithms is impressive (Samples on X show it really can freeze movements without introducing a lot of unnatural artifacts), but what makes the cameras on Xiaomi and Oppo flagships so attractive is their colour mode - Leica Authentic and Hasselblad Master Mode really have a muted look that adds depth to a certain tones (mostly greens). Huawei's greens, in comparison, simply look dull and flat in most of these photos. Huawei just doesn't have any character to its colour rendition, and it's something they'll have to figure out sooner or later.

Disappointed... should have atleast priced it right, but the 10x telephoto quality seems good though

Is it known whether the periscope uses again an RYB color filter?

Anonymous, 21 May 2024Funny how ppl here believe 9000s and 9010 are any different... moreThey have been sanctioned, you think they can use any tech freely? They have to innovate all over again, other Oem would just use Qualcomm tech or licence them but Huawei has to create it from scratch.

This newer kirin is indeed different, it use Bigger core equivalent of Cortex X, same core used in Kunpeng, that's why you see Geekbench single core of 1400, normal android core wouldn't be able to reach that score, you can also check cpu throttling, this one throttle a lot like any other soc with Cortex X.

                                  Horrible colour science, too iphone.
Too bright foreground like samsung , close inspection shows 🌱🌱 reflect too much light despite sunlight is not directing hitting them.

                                  No usb 3.1

Still costs 1500 euros , this is a 2022 phone at most.

EVERY SMARTPHONE COMPANY DOES IT. They all spy/sell your data and whatnot. There were many other reasons, known and unknown, for the US ban that hit Huawei.

Compared to the Magic6 Pro, GSMarena said that the Honor is on par with the regular cameras.

But how does it stack up with the telephoto? Specifically at 10x range? It seemed to me like the Magic6 runs out of steam really fast after 5x.
