Mr. Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024The prices in Asia and Europe are not comparable for Chines... moreWhy are you even using the Chinese priced version of price comparison. The Nubia Z60 Ultra that I used as sample is sold as "Global" version here in Asia that I can always buy online and based the price during checkout from 3rd-party online platform, the China only version has much lower price without Google Play store and services and I purposely left-it-out because China-only versions is hard to source from.
And your point the Europe pricing is higher makes this phone even more DOA even in Europe. lol.

Nice phone, Lumia design, should have had the Nokia branding and should have come years earlier but it seems a nice package. Not your typical dime a dozen phone. Hopefully more -flashy- colors will be available at a later time.

Nick Tegrataker, 06 Aug 2024Back in the days when these phones were released, GSMArena ... moreThe point is : if phones like s6 with barely above 400 nits could easily be used with zero issues, how can some people here not able to use phone that has 800-900 nits today?
6 phones so far. Only 2 with more than 550 nits
Zero issues to use any of them outside home.
My city often has days without clouds.
About U11, the squeeze was called gimmick. Not about damaging the device.
It could do many actions, while pixel 2 only summon the assistant

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024Try using a side one in a car while the phone is in a holderYeah, I've done it and it's perfectly usable? I'd rather not sacrifice security and overall usability just for unlocking to be ever so slightly more convenient in a specific situation. Capacitive scanners have had a lot of time to develop and mature and optical won't be catching up any time soon

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024Galaxy S10 series was first Samsung devices to cross the 65... moreBack in the days when these phones were released, GSMArena was also testing the sunlight contrast ratio of a panel - While the newer IPS-equipped Xperia as well as the OLED-equipped ones were fairing pretty well in this test, the older models (Xperia Z1-Z5 series, Xperia XZ/XZ2 Premium, etc) were falling behind, because even though the panels themselves were bright, they also had a very reflective surface which drastically reduced their outdoor visibility.
"U11 was bashed for the squeeze to do this"
Yeah, because they were actually compromising the durability of the chassis significantly and it was also hard for you to trigger it when you need it/not to trigger it when you don't. Pixel's squeeze gestures weren't particularly well received from what I can remember, either.

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2024Galaxy S10 series was first Samsung devices to cross the 65... moreWell said, i used a ~550 nits panel in my phone until this year for the past 3 years and i could even watch videos outside, when the sun is at the brightest, but somehow now these screens are unusable? I had this debate so many times this year, just look at Poco M6 plus comment section since its the latest i remember, where people cry that a sub 200€ phone has an IPS LCD screen with 550 nits max brightness.
There has to be a popular content creator that keeps spreading this bs, way too many people have this shitty opinion.

Quote
while in auto mode, the screen boosted up to 1,060 nits (Updated 6 Aug). It's decent enough for outdoor use, but definitely not ideal
/quote.
My current phone had 500 nits, not ideal but 1060 be more than ok for me. My last 3 phones broke on screen , bad battery or bad functioning usb port. Being not abel to repair makes the other phones for me a no go.

Ottonis, 06 Aug 2024You are making a good point. 800 nits of brightness were co... moreThe review has actually been updated and the brightness reading is now over 1000 nits.
That being said, it's always sensible to question the fads of the day such as absurd marketed brightness levels which turn out to only be for a tiny sliver of the screen when viewing HDR content and can be sustained for short periods only.

"The HMD Skyline relies on a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2"..."This platform is not as powerful as the 7+ Gen 2 or even the original 7 Gen 1."
And yet your own benchmarks show it's better than the 7 gen 1 in all but the Wildlife Extreme 2160p, where it is close enough to make no difference. In most of your benchmarks it's actually close to the 7 gen 3.

This is the first ever Android with magnetic qi2, abd none of the reviews so far says a single word about magnets' strength, the fact that the charging coil is not in the device's centre and how it affects landscape view stability without rotation when magnetically mounted in the car? Looks like I'm the only one who is interested in this for qi2 and nobody else cares ))

Carol-, 06 Aug 2024The funny part is that not a long time ago, smartphone flag... moreGalaxy S10 series was first Samsung devices to cross the 650 nits level.
Something old iphones and xperia ( z3/4) had passed years before.
There was never any " I cannot use outdoors".
Then some brands started to push it instead of making other parts of phones better as marking trick. Suddenly ppl here and Reddit are unable to use phone outside home unless entire screen is over 1200 nits .
Even funnier is the gang " hey sony, nobody watches movies on phones" are same people that now justify high brightness because HDR content. What are they watching that needs HDR?
Everything that Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi or OnePlus ignore is called "gimmick", but turns into " must have" after they adopt.
U11 was bashed for the squeeze to do this and that, but pixel 2 praised for having same functionality but with less options.

The camera on this is very disappointing. I think even the xperia 10 VI gets better pics.
