Gsmarena, your reviews never examine the live photo video frame image quality. On a Pixel phone, this is the only way to take a burst photo while still getting a dng file, quite useful when you take a photo of a bird.
The 4:3 live photo video frame resolution has been decreased from 1.55 megapixel to 1.35 megapixel. It's even worse when you use live photos at 10x-30x because a 30x 4:3 live photo video frame of the 9 Pro XL only has an effective resolution of less than 0.3 megapixel due to analog pixel binning, whereas you get 1.2 effective megapixel on the 7 Pro at 30x in decent light conditions.

But I don't think the battery life this year is all that disappointing.
      It looks fine to me.

You can get S24 Ultra 512GB in Europe right now for around 1000-1100€ right now. And it's a better device in every single way (except if you don't like some double apps, but honestly it's not an issue nowadays with so much RAM and storage).

1000usd flagship with 7+g3 performance at best, and very disappointing battery life. fairly rough sell over any of the s24 bretheren, or any other actual flagship device (say mi 14). its interesting to strike a deal with samsung for cheaper silicon, but completely fail to capitalize in any aspect of that, especially considering google is designing it themselves. i guess 7 years of updates? but apple always did that and samsung does it now as well. who is this targeted for?

Does Pixel 9 series have official support for Google Android Desktop Mode? Something equivalent to Samsung Dex, including by using USB-C to HDMI cable.

And people who buy a pixel to use grapheneos do care about performance.

I have seen two YouTube videos where they claimed that the Pixel 9 Pro XL offered more detail at 30x (I'd rather compare them at 15x because 7 Pro/8 Pro have very strange algorithms at 30x, but ok). I watched the YouTube videos in 4k, zoomed into the video and took a screenshot of the comparison. It was the opposite. The 8 Pro occasionally delivered more detail than the 9 Pro XL because the 9 Pro XL always uses analog pixel binning at 10x-30x in the default 12 megapixel mode of the camera app. The image of the 9 Pro XL just had more contrast, more oversharpening and possibly more machine learning fake detail.

It's ridiculous that they have a cloud feature that is called super res video because as far as I know the Pixel 9 Pro XL only records videos with analog pixel binning turned on (that's why they don't support 8k video), which converts the 48 megapixel sensor into a 12 megapixel sensor. So, it's actually anti res video.

While I realize internet speed has many variables, it will be good to know if there is a phone out there that could make the most out of difficult conditions. I don't care much about the CPU since I'm not a power user, but I do care about the modem and receiver's ability.

Here's a comparison how many pixels per angle you get when you use dng files at 10x-30x in the default 12 megapixel mode in good light conditions:

Unfortunately, that one parameter is quite the important one — SoC.

I'm in the same boat as you and it frustrates me to know that there's not a single 6.1-6.4" flat screen phone on the market that has a decent SoC in it (7+gen3 would be perfect). Once the 50 Neo launches, I'd be looking for reviews to decide between it and the Xiaomi 14 Civi (with a slightly bigger screen).
