2012-2015 it seemed like the sky was the limit. The ongoing improvements send Neverending..... but really and corporate greed set in.
Advancements halted significantly to a more apple like minor bump. Everything became super restricted. And with ever advancement came something being taken away constantly. Yet prices soar higher and higher

It is an intelligent review.
It makes one realise that this device will be bought by a few (those who can afford it financially) and those few will have several 'headaches' to deal with both on the hardware side (with an additional financial outlay for external accessories) and on the overall technical side (a downgrade in some key areas, compared to the previous generation)

Rolly Ghiz, 20 Nov 2024True, but you're not seeing the bigger picture here. A... more"Asus is LEADING in the gaming industry (for mobile phones)"
The meaning of this personal and subjective opinion of yours escapes me (concretely).
I knew that Asus was just LEADING in the production of motherboards. (Has anything changed in the meantime?)
To me this, it seems like the usual staging to get a product (and related accessories) sold at a price that is "out of scale" (thus deliberately increased price) compared to the average market cost.
I don't think that "three letters" (ROG), can mean synonymous with quality in a (mobile) device.
Personally, the wording ROG, I juxtapose it with well-made motherboards from Asus. (Not to those of an ordinary smartphone for calling and chatting)

Hello, 19 Nov 2024I claim I can run 2000mph
*Actually runs 10mph*
Am I fa... moreOh and your analogy is stupid. You don't understand cars nor phones it seems. The charging speed is more akin to horsepower than top speed.
The Koenigsegg Agera RS has 1,341 hp and can reach 278 mph, the Rimac Nevera has 1,888 hp and can reach 258 mph. See how more horsepower doesn't equal more speed? If you say that the weight difference is too big, which is fair enough, compare the McLaren Speedtail and the Bugatti Veyron The Bugatti is lighter and has lower horsepower yet can reach around the same top speed as the Speedtail.
The 200 MPH to 10 MPH analogy was hilarious to me considering the fact that Asus is selling the phone equivalent of a hypercar that has the same speed in terms of charging as a cameraphone... which is i'd say a phone equivalent of a super SUV I'd say. So yeah, I understand you had hyperbole in that sentence but still, it was too big of a stretch.
While I do agree that Vivo is a tad slow, but context matters. That one is a cameraphone that still managed to have a 6k mah battery, this is a gaming phone with a 5800 mah battery and still charges at the same speed essentially.
The ZTE Z60 Ultra charged slower than the X200 Pro yet didn't have charging speed as a con back then. Whereas the Red Magic 9 Pro rightfully gets the fast charging as a pro due to it having a large 6500 mah battery that charges reasonably quick. The Red Magic 9 Pro and the GT7 Pro deserve to have it as a pro, not the ROG Phone 9 Pro.
The X200 Pro's charging speed could be considered mediocre but my question is what other phone with a similarly competent camera setup has a battery that big/performs in terms of battery just as well has better charging speeds? Context matters, other phones might charge faster but either don't have the same battery capacity, don't have the same level of battery performance or don't have a similar level of camera setup.

Nice to hear they brought some niche air-trigger features back. Hope they find a way to bring back other trimmed features too in the future.

Asus needs to do some collab with steam or get some PC games released for android, like cyberpunk etc. They have all been shown to run on 30-60fps on snap elite. No point in having such heavy hardware just to play zenless zero or genshin, even snapdragon 4 can run those

Hello, 19 Nov 2024I claim I can run 2000mph

Am I fa... moreIf you were smart you'd know that a watt rating by itself doesn't mean anything. The optimization/utilization is what matters the most.
Still, it's considered fast on this phone yet average on the other phone. It's listed in the pros section as fast charging and "average speed" on the X200 Pro as a con. Why don't you explain that? This is a gaming phone, that's a cameraphone. This phone is supposed to have fast charging yet it's "average" by GSMArena's own words.
Let's just say that the X200 Pro is bad for not having super fast charging, my question is, why is it a pro here? shouldn't this charging speed be considered but cus this is a gaming phone and gaming phones tended to push battery/thermal/performance tech?

why was my comment simply asking for subwoofer testing results of the Aeroactive Cooler deleted? GSMA still posts the results of the Rog 7 w and w/o cooler, so how does my question violate the rules?

Anonymous, 20 Nov 2024Best gaming phone in the industry? What I see are some lack... moreTrue, but you're not seeing the bigger picture here. Asus is LEADING in the gaming industry (for mobile phones). So, regardless of the price, unless any phone can match up to their level at which they offer a comfortable gaming experience to their consumers, then there's no justification to what they implement on their newer devices. Some of you might argue that the Redmagic is better. Well, in some ways, it is, like the display, the performance is on par, and probably the battery too. But when it comes to gaming, Asus is undeniably better, majorly because of their software.
Also, the sustained performance is pretty great even without the cooling fan, if you ask me. For a flagship, that is.

Where's the sustained GPU performance? The sustained CPU performance is quite disappointing to see. Even flagships from 2 years ago are beating it both in terms of peak performance as well as sustained performance, not to mention temperature. 99C is just unacceptable.

Best gaming phone in the industry? What I see are some lacklustre phones from Asus. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of Asus Rog phone, but the phones they released this past 2 years just give me the impression of they are not even trying, or maybe trying in the wrong direction.
Focused on too many unnecessary "upgrades". The idea of an Anime Vision is interesting, but in pixel form? No thanks. The idea of using Anime Vision to play pixel games, unlock some hidden animations when encountering another Rog phone user are even more of a joke. Come on. You want me to buy a Rog phone just to try out the pixel games at the back of the phone? Try harder. I will consider buying one when you reach at least 720 x 480, only then I can customise something cool.
And hey, that's lots of accessories Asus is introducing here. Come on, I want to buy a good gaming phone, not good phone "accessories". It's like Asus is trying to say "hey, you can only experience 70% of it's potential if you only buy the phone. If you want to explore it's full potential, you need to buy the full set." Why not try harder to embed them into the phone? Even Nubia is trying a lot more harder in improving their phone's cooling system, rather than showing off their external cooler.
Then, AI to boost gaming performance? I may still kinda agree with picking up items in MMORPG, but assisting in ML sort of games? I don't know. Maybe just help me play and win the game? Isn't it better to use AI to boost the phone's performance? More energy saving, less heat dissipation/higher efficiency, longer phone lifespan, and so?
And the two variants offered is also a joke. Same hardware? For me, I usually won't spend my money on the lower variant, because if I want to spend, I will surely spend my money on the best, then use it for 5 to 8 years before considering a new one. But looking at these 2, it just makes me feel that even the pro+ is half cooked.
Is Asus trying too little? Or thinking too hard? Why not try focusing more on cooler design, bigger screen size, bigger battery size, premium cooling? Trying learning the good stuffs from Nubia Redmagic, or else Asus is gonna be the next Black Shark.
