As the owner of the Nubia Z60 Ultra, I consider the Z70 Ultra to be not a step forward, but a step to the side.
Pros:
+ Display has more brightness.
+ Selfie camera has better quality (absolutely everyone asked me what was wrong with my camera during videocalls, hehe).
+ Zoom camera focal range lowered to more appropriate 70 mm (main x2).
+ Camera button. Finally! It is as vital as slider control for silenced mode.
+ New flash light. Z60 UL has a surprisingly low flashlight power.
Cons:
- No main camera upgrade, which I was expecting. I was hoping for a size move to the market standard for flagship cameras, around 1/1.3-1.4".
- The ultrawide camera has been nerfed, from the best in class 18 mm focal range with a relatively big sensor to a trash 12 mm. This is a significant downgrade and is the main reason why I would never consider buying the Z70.
Personal taste:
- No rounded corners. 90 degree corners makes the Z60 UL feel like a shovel or brick compared to the Honor Magic6 Pro.
- The back panel design is a bit strange. Z60 UL, in my opinion, has a strict German-style design, while Z70 seems awkward.

Anonymous, 26 Nov 2024That's disappointing to see the battery worse than pre... moreIt's very predictable though considering the clock speeds of snapdragon elite. I'm expecting galaxy s25 range to suffer seeing as they're still using lower capacity and probably coming with snapdragon elite across the range. It's no coincidence why other manufacturers upped the capacity to 5500ma+ while s25+ will come with 4900ma battery, my 2 year old xiaomi 12tpro has a 5000ma battery. Samsung need to drop the price if they're not giving battery increase.

I don't see the point in the newer flagships. My 2 year old xiaomi 12tpro is as fast and smooth as ever, it's got 120hz support although 90fps is good enough for me. I mean you can't get much faster than fast only thing that would make me consider a new phone is if this one dies.

That's disappointing to see the battery worse than previous model even with the bigger capacity.

Bad battery endurance.
Bad Ultrawide downgrade: from 1/1.55" sensor to 1/2.88", OIS gone, 4k120 gone, f/1.8 to f/2.0, smaller pixel pitch.
Basically all the major things I liked about my Z60 Ultra now performs very bad.

the battery is a huge letdown, is it a pre-release bug or something? Or is it cus it's not the chinese model? Xiaobai's tests had this phone quite high, idk how to feel about this. The CPU throttling is pretty bad as well. But in games the performance is quite good so ig it's fine? I think it's high time to stop using benchmarks and time to use actual video rendering tests.
The main camera is solid, as expected, the zoom cam is quite nice too. But the UW cam? YIKES. The hardware is poor but the processing is worse, and it defaults to 18 mm? This looks like a work in progress, ain't no way they wanted to release this phone.
I'd have said updates might fix this but this is ZTE, so lol. Really disappointed, i was rooting for them but this has way too many cons to be worth buying.

An endurance score of 12:59h is just pathetic for a phone with a 6150mAh battery.
The Xperia 1 VI has a much smaller 5000mAh battery, yet it was able to get a much better endurance score of 17:27h.
Heck, even the iPhone 16 Pro with its miniscule 3582mAh battery is able to get a better endurance score of 14:17h.
Proof that bigger isn't always better.

Does it have Circle to Search?
I'm also a bit disappointed by the price hike. At least it's a little less than what other US-market SD8E flagships are rumored to cost.
