I've been doing some digging about the Honor Magic 7 Pro UK /EU battery downgrade.. I was going to get it but decided not to because of the downgrade , I have the Honor Magic 5 Pro ... What I've seen is this the Magic 7 Pro did not pass the shielding test in the UK/EU so Honor had Two options completely change the inside of the the shielding or put a smaller battery inside , they decided to take the cheaper option and downgrade the battery... The Honor magic 6 pro had a bigger battery with no problems and as you said many makes of phone have a bigger battery in the UK/EU including the Honor Magic 7 Lite 6600 battery and to top it off when the Honor Magic 7 Pro was released in the UK/EU the CEO of Honor resigned , bit strange that , so if it's true about the Shielding on the Honor Magic 7 Pro then it's Honors mistake not the UK/EU regulations..I have never know a new flagship phone with any make get a smaller battery than the years before flagship it's either the same size or bigger never less

copenahgen72, 18 Jan 2025I don't know what Notebookcheck did, but my wife has M... moreTheir test would be on how it renders the colours of a test chart in controlled lighting conditions but I mentioned that it was for the Magic 7 pro. The Magic 6 pro performed very differently on the same chart with color deviations being way worse and the average Delta is over 2 times that of the Magic 7 pro. The same sensor means very little in terms of colours as it is mostly down to the image processing. Of course in different lighting and when HDR fires the coloring could be very different but there is a huge difference between the magic 6 pro and magic 7pro in notebookchecks test under controlled lighting. I briefly tried the Nubia Z60 ultra and I agree with you that it is probably the best or definitely on of the best for people photos. It also seems to perform really well in very lowlight situations and portraits are also great indoors in weak lighting due to them being taken by the main sensor. Great camera phone with the brilliant ultrawide too. Unfortunately though the z70 ultra is weaker for the overall camera setup

Auguste, 18 Jan 2025It is evident that Apple has already strategically outmaneu... moreI re-edited my comment for readability purposes (I had forgotten to remove two superfluous parts):
It is evident that Apple has already strategically outmaneuvered its competitors, compelling nearly all Android manufacturers to emulate its approach—a tactic poised for failure. This phenomenon is particularly noticeable with Samsung and Google Pixel, both striving to replicate Apple’s model within the Android ecosystem, yet falling woefully short. But more concerning and disheartening is that the Chinese brands, at the forefront of innovation in recent years, are now adopting similar strategies.
Many users on this and comparable tech platforms frequently criticize Apple, often invoking the overused “iSheep” trope. However, by 2025, such critiques are increasingly detached from reality. Apple’s initial market dominance facilitated the cultivation of brand loyalty during a period when its smartphones lacked the comprehensive refinement they possess today. Presently, Apple’s ecosystem is highly addictive, featuring unparalleled software-hardware integration, arguably the best software support, a market-leading privacy policy for average users (who are unlikely to consider alternatives like the Librem 5 or GrapheneOS on a Pixel), and superior after-sales service, all contributing to its commanding market position.
Apple’s extensive iCloud data repository enables computational capabilities that offset the limitations of its relatively modest sensors—a scenario unlikely to change soon. (The forthcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max is anticipated to be the FIRST iPhone ever equipped with three 50MP-class rear cameras, while the adoption of 1-inch sensors remains at least two to three years away!) If anything, in this regard, Apple is today in a better position relative to its rivals than it was when iPhone 11 Pro Max or iPhone 12 Pro Max came out. So Android manufacturers have sought partnerships with Leica, Zeiss, and Hasselblad to enhance their camera systems…
Furthermore, Apple’s unique SoC advantages (efficiency, no intermediary like Qualcomm…) have allowed the company to pair relatively modest battery capacities with excellent, almost class-leading endurance (thereby reducing costs associated with both batteries and SoCs…) These combined strengths render it exceedingly difficult for competitors to undercut Apple without pursuing a path similar to Huawei’s—emphasizing genuine innovation and differentiation.
Honor Magic 7 Pro 512GB may be priced like the regular iPhone 16 512GB, which in itself might render it appealing to some, but I think many reading this review would willingly pay an additional 200€ for enhancements such as a 6000–6500mAh battery or rear cameras comparable to those on the vivo X200 Pro or Oppo Find X8 Pro. When iPhone 17 Pro Max debuts with a 5000mAh battery, 12GB of RAM, and three robust 48MP cameras, Android smartphones will urgently need to reassess their competitive advantages and selling points. What will be their best „buy our devices instead of iPhones” arguments?
Will they tout a telephoto camera rated at 100 compared to Apple’s 90–95? Or QHD+ versus Apple’s 1320x2868 pixels display, which nonetheless offers Dolby Vision, impressive color accuracy, and brightness? Factors like optimization, calibration, and color science are crucial. If anything, Sony has retreated from 4K screens, and brands like Google and Honor have followed Apple’s lead by opting for displays just shy of perfect QHD+ resolution. Will they say: we have superior GPU and ours are better gaming devices? While Android devices may offer faster charging, endurance (GSM Active Score) and longevity are, in my opinion, more significant. (Tbf, in this regard, Android’s promise of 1600 charge cycles is a noteworthy advantage.)
To conclude, a very dispiriting but hardly surprising review. This seemed like a competitive device for 900€ net (factoring in a 300€ early discount and free earbuds potentially resellable for 100€)—coincidentally, 900€ is the net price for OnePlus 13 512GB at the moment—however, upon learning about the battery downgrade, I realized that unbridled optimism would be misplaced. OnePlus 13 also appears unimpressive. I guess one should wait for Vivo X200 Pro or Oppo Find X8 Pro (the global versions, that is) to drop to the 800€-900€ (brand new) range…

Anonymous, 18 Jan 20252 month later price going to drop to $800 and 6 month later... moreThis strategy of dropping prices after few months doesn't work in premium segment (800+ $/€). If it worked Chinese OEMs combined would have more than ~9%. In reality one of the reasons why people buy iPhones is because they hold value much better than anything else. Apple + Samsung = 90% for a quite some time.

it Urks me apple and Samsung continuing to be rated so highly, with the likes of xiaomi, Huawei, oppo, honor, vivo Producing some of the best smartphones pound for pound on offer, such bias and complicity because they are the biggest known brand
Honor have yet again produced a magnificent device with great capability and with current offers 828 usd half that of the above flagships

Aierlan, 18 Jan 2025Notebookcheck measure the colour accuracy of photos and thi... moreI don't know what Notebookcheck did, but my wife has Magic 6 Pro with the same main sensor as Magic 7 Pro. What I have to say, if you do photos of simple scenes, full face portrait or full-length portrait - everything okay. But if you turn your head, body at some degree... here starts the "magic" (even with AI enhancement switched off). The blind and stupid AI lost faces and bodies, doesn't identify/recognise a humans on a picture as a humans, so it doesn't add/replace correct skin color and proper processing for humans. The results: grayish, greenish, orangeish skin tones (poor color rendering, btw we are caucasian), children faces with deep wrinkles (cause of silly and awkward contrast and sharpness boost). Cameraphone, lol. A real camera, even the pocket-sized Sony ZV1, destroys the Magic 6 Pro in all scenarios (except for shooting HDR video, which the camera cannot do).
I had Huawei P40 Pro, it did not have such issues. Nubia Z60 Ultra doesn't have such issues (best cameraphone right now, best quality ultrawide, the only 35mm main camera). Nothing Phone (1) has similar problems with poor color rendering, but overall it has midrange camera and weak CPU.

Ottonis, 18 Jan 2025I don't like the overprocessed looks of it's phot... moreI totally get your point about Sony as it still produces the most realistic photo quality I've seen. But against its other Chinese rivals, Samsung, Apple, and Google, it's actually not too bad. I don't see any oversharpening artefacts in the photos. While it does look like it has some noise reduction applied, it's not as heavy as Samsung.

I don't like the overprocessed looks of it's photos, especially the ones from the 3x telephoto camera. Leaves and grass look like AI-sharpening gone wrong, and there is an absurd amount of chromatic aberration along high-contrast edges.
The opposite of it would be the Sony Xperia 1 vi that has one of the most naturally looking renderings of irregular/random fine objects such as foliage.

xcv, 18 Jan 2025Even notebookcheck put in negatives:
- overheated during c... morefor the first part i answered before: oppo reaches 48 C easly....VIVO reaches 48 C easily so why they dont force stop the 3D mark operation? because they dont care......x8 pro has 45% stability in 3D mark does that even prove anything? its just 55% wasted power while being able to cook an egg on it and thats just GPU tests
it seems honor has put a 45 C temperature limit because doesnt matter if its able to do the test at the end its just not gonna be good result .....you just make up stuff about honors quality while the phone is even cooler than other brands it just has lower temperature safety limit
for the secound part :: yes honor is selling weak version of it in EU but i answered this before too {{i dont know about the battery but not having a charger thats 100% on europol about some enviormental rules .......im 99% sure they do this to sneak around some EU enviormental tax or somthing }} so stop blaming honor and go find the reason in your company tax policys
and for the last part: you know 80% of the work load of the phone is done by the cpu right ? if your not a phone gamer(and not even 2D games but 3D games) your phone can have a gpu from 2020 and still have no bottleneck because unlike a computer all the processing is done by CPU and gpu just accelerates those and makes your screen work.....thats why we have 8 CPU cores up to 4.3 mHz and only 3 GPU cores up to 1.1 mHz in 8elite....so CPU stability is way more important than GPU so dont worry about watching movie under a direct sunlight while using waze in summer becasuse phone is stable (which not a single human being does)and just sit under a shade or somthing ...please increase your knowledge than complain about obvious matters

PatDat, 17 Jan 2025Color science is below average, telephoto uses crop on alre... moreNotebookcheck measure the colour accuracy of photos and this had deviations of below 10 for all colours. That's actually really good. Not sure which colour profile they chose as there are 3 colour options on the Honor magic series (at least on the Chinese variant) but it produced colours very naturally and even in the lowlight test also it was pretty good. 'The ColorChecker was captured very naturally and the DeltaE deviations always remained below a value of 9—exemplary.'
