£1400 for a phone with a lower batterylife than last year?! For that kind of money it better have Blake Lively's number on it.

The biggest advancement is that they are reviewing it on the same day it was announced. Previously it was first announced, then wait for weeks to have the review and then months after it would become available.

Main camera and telephoto image quality looks average at most, only UW camera is interesting improvement. As usual sony disappoint.

Clarified , 13 May 2025Cameras 1 year behind other flagship? Both ultra wide and m... moreYeah about a year behind still (they were with the Xperia z1, mates z3 and z5 premium were about a year behind back then too with 4k screens). 1 camera doesn't make up for that and I'm guessing you've never used Huawei devices then, i had the p40 pro and it beats it's UW (1/1.49 on the 40 pro) main and telephoto.... Still. Fyi my oppo find X5 has a mic 766 1/1.56 UW from 2022 and is about as good as this in quality. To me it's nothing special
Yeah I got my oppo find X5 same year release for £400, got my Huawei p40 pro for £440, got my pixel 8 pro for £320, a lot of flagships not by Samsung and apple are half this price, you have just said it yourself the iPhone 16 pro max and s25u cost the same/higher on bigger storage capacities, this isn't comparable to those phones unfortunately (this is in line with the s25 and the s25 is way cheaper and way more available on way more phone plans/deals in stores so my statement stands and is correct).

Bob the web dev, 13 May 2025It's clearly not perfect when it's camera output ... moreCameras 1 year behind other flagship? Both ultra wide and main cams as good as others. Only telephoto is behind but is quite adequate up to 10x.
Double the price of other flagship? It's about same price as iPhone Pro Max and S25U.

Honestly tempted to get this and see what it's like to use a sony phone for once as I'm quite tired of brands like samsung, google, apple and oneplus

Anonymous, 13 May 2025we are in 2025 and most people still haven't understoo... moreWell I've lived through the ages of every device having a micro SD card since the 90s (more like just SD back then but yeah) and a big issue with them is they break. If they break, well that's all your data gone... forever and I've dealt with this issue a few times (unless you actively make raided data to another HDD etc which 99% won't do). They're still slow unless you're paying STUPID money for one and people can still steal it's data remotely just like scammers do with your physical SIM card, ON A DAILY BASIS.
I've actively been using cloud for about 10 years now and I've never had uploading issues (and I live near absolute dead zone areas because in the UK, we're regressing with it by removing all infrastructure that's Huawei). I get 24/7 support if my data is stolen or lost, I can actively share storage space with friends and family across the world AND I still have the physical copy on my device (either phone, laptop, pc, portable HDD etc).
You also know things like VPN's exist right? Usually helps with defending your data too. FYI people will always have a way to steal data, you have an online device, you can steal data on a physical device without taking the physical device lol, this has been happening for atleast 20 years and to not have any data stolen means bye bye to all electronic devices you can ever use now because again, they can take your data without needing the physical property.

Legit question. Does anybody buys Sony phone?
I tried so hard to see one in the wild, but not single one yet.
Why is Sony even trying?
