Can someone from GSMArena post what firmware version the review unit was running? Or if it was mentioned in the review, can someone post it here?

What the hell! Is this a joke or what? The hd recording frame rate is appalling! 1st of all we cant transfer hd videos and second of all hd recording is a total disaster! I just hope that samsung will improve this and that the D1 recording is at 30fps, matching or equaling vga on n97,n86 and iphone.

I've had this phone for about 6 weeks too and it's by far the best phone I've ever had.

Mine is on orange (uk) so was crippled by the orange firmware.

I am glad I dared to invistigte and flashed it with the newest firmware virsion. I have a copy of the orange firmware too if it needs to go back for a repair ;-)

It's like a completely new phone now! Everything is improved from menu speeds to internet browsing and of course the audio on the 720p res is much improved.

Respect to Samsung for recognising the bugs and fixing them! (there are still a few small bugs that I look forward to being fixed).
It's a shame orange feel the need to ruin such a briliant phone!!

Had this phone for around 6 weeks now, and really really like it, it doesn't have kinetic scrolling which would make the browser much better, but it's not that bad at all.

AAC audio is now much better, and if they sort the framerate it will be great.

Messaging etc. I find wonderful, not had QWERTY on a phone before and it's improved my typing speed massively.

Screen has to be seen to be believed.

              Great review, guys.

I can't wait to see the updated info regarding it's battery life. I also wouldn't mind having more detailed info about the video playback capabilities of this monster - how good is it with non-ASP MPEG4 (non XviD/DivX video streams) e.g. how would it handle MPEG-4 AVC / ITU h.264 - what encoding settings (cabac=1 or 0), framerates; bitrates etc or would it play the obsolete MPEG-2/h.262 video format.

              Will e-mail for more info.

              Cheers!

What? If video quality is so lousy, why did Samsung bother putting HD in the name?

I hope they can improve the video quality and other bugs.

Zobi, 30 Jul 2009is good phone, no doubt. I not sure why they picked Symbien... moreBecause Android can't currently can't support such a large resolution.
Down the road this will be supported.

There are some people hacking to make Android run on the HD but this is far away from working as a regular everyday OS

                        Thanks! it was very enriched!

                        As for the phone?
Clearly, the best in the business.
And even its only threat, the SE Satio, will hit the shelves only in october.
That fact show us once again that Samsung is leading this industry.

It's a good review but not as good as expected..

GSMArena you don't say anything about the touch-screen itself I.e. Sensitivity, response comparison with other phones I'm a bit disappointed :(

"Some of you must be wondering what took us so long to get an Omnia HD for a proper in-depth review as it's been around for a while. Well, it's true and it's not. Samsung i8910 Omnia HD was released in the end of May through selected carriers but shortly after that Samsung froze production and stopped supplies, reportedly due to software problems. Now, the official release has been announced and the Omnia HD is available worldwide, all bugs fixed…though let us be the judge of that. But anyway, the i8910 Omnia HD is ready to roll."

If you were then you should know that the FINAL Omnia HD is launched in the late July! Previous review are written on bugged phones and poor video capabilities. This review in fact is just in time!
