Satio vs. Pixon12: 12MP shootout teaser

16 October 2009
It took cameraphones exactly one year to take the next step in their evolution, closing the gap on dedicated digicams even more. As usual we are here, carefully tracking the progress and checking out if it's going in the right direction...

rockz, 20 Oct 2009Both have its selling point, half is fan of SE and Samsung,... moreComes with a bag? Well Satio comes with 60 full length movies from the playnowmovies.com
I'd say that cameras are the same more or less but Satio packs more power and being the smartphone it has all the apps to s60. That tips the scales in favor of Satio.

hello friends !I think that pixon 12 has a slightly better camera module than SE.the sky looks much wonderful than satio in the first pic.its flash is also slighly more powerful and it has wide angle lens which takes pics of a huge space unlike satio.so in my view pixon 12 is the clear winner but with very little margin SE is slightly left behind but next time SE will win.thanx

CPW leaver, 19 Oct 2009In terms of camera quality, this really doesnt matter, as n... moreIt's true that megapixel rating alone doesn't define quality.

                BUT

Generally with higher megapixel ratings the manufacturer also steps it up in image processing (colour reproduction and accuracy, noise reduction etc) as well as lens quality.

Most people know that the iPhone camera is absolute rubbish. I'm sorry, but it's true. The 2MP camera is equipped with the bare minimum in terms of lens and image processing to pass as a quick photo for MMS.

I'm waiting for the other 12mp monster from samsung.
in 3 yrs 1# samsung #2 nokia, #3 apple, #4 Lg, #5 htc, #6 sony, #7 moto. hardware expertise you cant beat sammy, os it needs to improve on. but sony is neither good at hardware or os. it does have clean, modern designs though.

Well I gotta say I they are pretty much equal, no real difference in the photo quality I believe. However I used to think that Satio had better specs, now i compared them and see that it has all the same specs. Satio has a larger screen, pixon, however has a more beautiful looking amoled screen. Well these phones are still the same. However Pixon 12 isn't Samsungs peak, while the SE Satio is currently SE's peak.

I sincerely hope that you will understand and will be able to accept that SATIO is simply the best phone in the moment at the mobile phone market.

Until announcement of some serious competition of Satio, I wish you a nice time....

GSMArena !!! There is something wrong with your Satio handset. Your Satio takes blury pics in the right side specially in right bottom.
Look at first picture which has been taken by Satio. Look at satellite antenna. Other parts of picture are not that blury. Same for other pics.

Almost all of the samples I saw was in favor of Satio, except for the last shot. In which the Pixon displayed a better looking image. Like most people I'd like to believe that Sony Ericsson is superior as a cam phone than other brands. Fortunately Sony does it again, my only question is do you need this much mega-pixel on your mobile? I personally dont think so.

After i have looked over all the pictures taken from the Satio and Pixon 12, i think the Pixon outbeat the satio pictues quality, in terms of color and resolution, i would say that SE still need to improve, i havent seen the real pictures from the phone, but jugdging from the pictures from the gsm website, no doubt pixon wins the satio

In terms of camera quality, this really doesnt matter, as noone prints photos as big as these samples anyway, in fact barely anyone prints anymore full stop! if we could see some 7x5 prints from each of these phones that would be more applicable as most facebook pages restrict to that size on screen. In terms of handset quality, yes the SE has a slight requirement for a software flash, but let's look at it like this, Samsung Pixon 12 Announced june 09, released august 09,

SEIDOU/Satio announced late 2008 released october 09, so sony have had so much more time to get this right, having seen and used a pixon 12, they've essentially rounded off the original pixon and stuck a 12 mp camera inside, which says to me that it's very rushed.

i will choose.....The iphone....Always! lol the misconception that more Megapixels means a better camera is bull! the size a print is done at is important, you print an iphone taken shot at 10x8 then you're a mug, but if you use it like most normal people would, and print a 6x4 or 7x5 you will notice no difference whatsoever in terms of quality. I used to work for jessops for many years and have an interest in digital photography.

Not really related to the shootout, but I have a question for my fellow Satio users - when I try an set a photo as my wallpaper, it zooms right in on the pic. Doesn't do it with the preloaded wallpapers, they look fine, it's solely when I try and set a camera photo. Is this the same with everyones? And if so, is there any way I can stop it doing that and get the whole pic as the wallpaper rather than just a zoomed in crop? Any advice appreciated! Cheers

Well to tell you the truth u can see little difference in the pictures. samsung have a slightly better clarity. i would choose the samsung purley as when demoing the satio to a customer the dreaded se software started to flicker and disapere when changing from portraite to landscape in messaging. have tried on 3 different handsets and the same happend. nothing than a simple update would fix this but given the track record of se i bet there will be a high repair rate on the sation.

Samsung has the upper hand when it comes to the colours, see the first picture (The sky looks much nicer than on the Satio). Can't seem to find the winner with the picture of the Audi R8 - picture quality is on par with both phones.
What surprises me is the last picture(s), the one where the Xenon flash capability is being tested. I can't believe that Samsung took that one! The flash is better that the one on the Satio!
                                        All in all this is how I'd rate the cameras of these phones;
                                        Satio - 8.5/10, Pixon12 - 9/10
These are some really nice phones, anyone of them would do for me!
