Nokia 5230 review: Foot soldiers get smarter

12 December 2009
When touchscreen handsets start to take over the lower segments of the market you know the rules of the game have changed. The Nokia 5230 is a smartphone but it doesn’t mind rubbing shoulders with the common run of handsets. So, it’s free...

Nokia producing some nice cheap touch screen mobiles, but why can"t we have better Quality cameras on these mobiles,as thats what alot of people are more bothered about, but Nokia think the people just want them for music, but Nokia only put better cameras on is Top End mobiles,i wish we could get a Upgraded 5800 with a Top Class camera on it,as this would sell really well,as the 5800 speakers are the Best out there,an use this mobile more than my N95 8gb for Music

how cheap can it get just taking out one feature.

the 5800 has everything except the that one extra homescreen which you can get from hacks.

      screw nokia, useless

KXP, 13 Dec 2009What kind of phone did you guys review anyways? I see that ... moreIf the phone does not have wifi, it is not going to get wifi suddenly because the GSM Arena reviewer says it does. The 5230 does not have wifi.
And I must also say this is a very good review of the 5230.

What kind of phone did you guys review anyways? I see that you complain about non-existing WiFi connectivity but hence you post a screneshot about the phone log viewer which is filled with WiFi connections. Get your facts straight!

If you really think about it, it makes sense to go for one of these nokias compared to other touch devices at this segment. Its the cheapest touch smartphone. You cant really go wrong with that.

I would like to see GSMArena add some indoor shots of the camera to the camera section of a review next time as the outdoor shots are not fully representative of the actual performance of the phone. Any cheap camera can produce good shots in sunlight, the real test comes under artificial light and indoors. Otherwise there is no purpose of putting up those sample photos...IMHO...:)

But Nokia is fking up release dates .. They announced 5230 is the middle of the year and its still not in stores.. Samsung on the other hand keeps releasing new phones even before announcing and its starts selling so fast .. Corby is an example
