Nokia X6 review: Going up the ladder

18 January 2010
In the world of Nokia it's all about evolution, rather than revolution. So don't expect the specs on the X6 to blow your mind. The handset is the next step for the market leader scrambling to make up for a late start in touch- screens. To be honest, the Symbian S60 touch...

...How plastic is bad on some brands (Nokia) and a "very nice touch" on other phones (HTC)...for f´sake, how bad can the fanboyism get.

i using Nokia since 1998 or 1999, but my nex phone be other brand like HTC, Samsung, Motorola, iPhone but just with qwerty. I so sad that Nokia can't go step by step with present time.
Every Nokia user dreaming about modern phone but... but... Nokia realise new Symbian only.... 2011 (!!!).
    CRAZY YOU GUY'S!
    GOOD BYE!

ahhhhh, what a wonderful toy the x6 is, it has some great feats, but as always nokia left out some goodies like:like a slick slide-out qwerty keyboard, an fm transmitter(i mean is it not an entertainment phone?), pleeeeeease nokia start including a mini flash-light that you can turn on-off, what happened to the good old timer guys?(some of us like jogging while enjoying some good music...)
otherwise i dig the camera quality, the music express button on the top right, not mention the 3.5 audio jack and slide down lock/unlock button, 32gig internal memory, secondary camera and wifi.
lovely phone, but nokia could have done better!
the price for this toy is too high for me... i'd rather wait for the next music express/touch.
for now my n97 should be enough.

Worse still, this phone is more or less the same as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which means this Nokia X6 is a meaningless product.

Truth be told, a phone with capacitive touch screen without multi-touch capability will make no difference to the phones with resistive touch screen.

Old hardware in a fresh package, the price is bit steep, nothing new since the N95 except for the whole touch thing which I don't really care about. Lets hop for more Maemo devices.

sticking with my 5800XM, it is nothing but a screen n memory upgrade :( what's Nokia actually thinking!!! outrageous pricing for a phone like this...

i love Nokia, been using Nokia ever since my first cell in 2002... but I have to admit, they're falling bit behind other companies, the capacitive screen is a step the right way but the software and CPU are way behind... I'll stick with my 5800 which is, except for the design and screen, pretty much the same...

How come your biggest gripe in OVI maps is lack of 'go to my position'?
The icon is even visible on one of your screenshots. It's this red dot in the top-right corner. Now, click it...

                                  Good music, disappointing video.

Better I wait for 5132XM. It'll also has good music and disappointing video. And I could save 400 euro for a real deal.

Anonymous, 19 Jan 2010Hate to break it, WinMo is far inferior to any other OS in ... moreyup winmo is slow and nexus is evolving but winmo is ggod on the hd2 . its a complete phone . no jailbreaking then restoring nonsense , no bluetooth issues . all apps load without any problem + the camera a flash are awesome .

apple is good but its an incomplete phone .eg it need a better camera to start with .

nokia symbian's most irritating feature is the " double tap" and the slow processor .

well blackberry by RIM is useless without the expensive blackberry service .

so for me hd2 wins . watching movies on this 4.3 " monster is awesome .

i think the next iphone will be one hell of a super phone . trust Steve Jobs on that . lets see

Definitely not worth the money. The specs are OK, but not spectacular. Exterior is nice, but can't compare with Marat Fidarov-designed phones (X6 is too chunky), plus the all-plastic build. Symbian S60 appears to be losing very quickly, with all the Android devices and Windows Mobile 6.6 and 7 lookong very nice indeed.
