Bummy,
What exactly are you going to achieve with a tiny, 2.4-inch touchscreen? You can't use your fingers for sure, and a stylus is just too "retro" and inconvenient to use. That's what I meant; it serves no purpose.
Secondly, if continuously holding your phone against a dark background and/or squinting at its display to discern what's on it is a sign of things to come, then I believe we're better off getting back to the old wired connection. Imagine the inconvenience you have to go through just to make out who's calling you or to carry out a task as basic as dialing a number or reading a message you've received on your phone. If you're going to make something "innovative," make sure it's usable, like the brilliant Super AMOLED Samsung have come up with on the Wave. That's what is truly innovative, not a translucent display that's going to render your eyes weak with continuous squinting over a period of time.

Sorry, I must of read the review wrong. This is a really cheap phone for emerging countries right??? It's just that I thought it said in the review it was a luxury phone?

Transparent screen? Its the first of its class. Xperia Pureness to me shows me what mobile phones are capable of in the future. I highly doubt SE is pumping out this Pureness out for PROFIT.
Yes ... SE made Aspen with 2.4inch touch screen. You forgot to add that Aspen also has full keyboard. Imagine a Blackberry with touchscreen! Actually, Blackberry is doing the same thing! How can this be a bad thing??
Moreover, SE is making 2 more phones with 2.5" touch screens!!! X10 mini and X10 mini pro! I've watched many reviews, and the size of the screen hasn't been a problem. You can even read GSM's preview!

xell, 09 Mar 2010Hey GSMArena team, if that phone's display resolution is 17... more...And there is more interesting stuff regarding the display technology: in OFF state the display appears icy translucent; where "gray" background areas appear (what in a normal color display is "black"), as the screenshot program may have captured in an image file, the display lets almost all the light go thru. Where "foreground" color appears white, the display appears also white. So the lcd dipols may have a normal, unexcited orientation of 45 degrees with the screen normal, the complete "black" (gray in the screenshots here, transparent zones on the display), have an orientation of 0 degrees (parallel to the normal, so they don't block any light), and the complete "white" (also white in the screenshots, opaque text and symbols on the display), have an orientation of 90 degrees (blocking nearly all the traversing light and leaving only the side leds illuminating the opaque areas.
But I may be wrong, without the exact presentation of the technology that has been used.

SE's innovation never ceases to amaze me. A brilliant transparent, monochrome screen that you need to hold up against a dark background or squint at if you're to make out anything on it (what an idea!), and a 2.4-inch touchscreen wonder (a 2.4-inch TOUCHSCREEN? HELL, YES! Why couldn't anybody think of it before?) called the Aspen. SE's brilliance is just unparalleled!

I would have though, that being such a simple phone with such a price tag, I would be able to at least use it to TALK. Unfortunately, the speaker picks up more wind noise than my voice. Also, I cannot even pair to my motorola HX1 handset. Oh, and my version here does not even comes with the concierage service.
The only reason why I am still using it is because of its uniqueness.

agree - pure ugly. SE is running out of ideas. Let the brillaint ideas come from LG and Samdung. SE just sit there and watch how they do it.

SE is out of its brains....there is no need to launch such a stupid phone when it is already bleeding........X1 has got known terrible hardware problems, X2 is no good, X10 has Android 1.6 and not 2.0........and then this stupid cheap looking phone.............SE is no where customer focussed..........but just minting money by charging premium on sub-standards...

Only Sony Ericsson can build a phone for the luxury class and make it cheap lookong with poor build quality.. Sony Ericsson has lost their way..
The best phone SE ever made was the W880, now that was revolutionary, i use to love that slim phone, sexy as hell and great quality feel.
