Samsung S8500 Wave review: Hello, world!

01 June 2010
Smartphone for the masses or feature phone of the future? Samsung would gladly have it either way. The question rather is, will the Bada OS keep up the pace of its debut device. We’ve been following the new smart platform since its first. Update: Samsung Dive overview added...

Lol, 09 Jun 2010I do think Samsung fanboys are blind. I'm not saying Wave i... moreI owned the n900 and I am now posting this comment using my Wave. N900 is by far a more accomplished pocket computer, but fails in so many simple tasks (which I'm glad to say are now being corrected). The wave straight out of the box is a more accomplished convergence device, again, not without flaws. Both will evolve.

I like this phone. I don't know if I should buy this one because three months from now Samsung might announce another similar phone with better performance or something. No problem if I can get this with a carrier contract but in my country, carriers don't offer contracts for phones like this.

I'd love it if GSMArena can make an exclusive report on Samsung's Super AMOLED technology. (e.g. PenTile or no PenTile, grayscale performance etc.)

Bada is a new open platform, not merely an upgrade version of touchwiz. Bada enables developers to create software they like with ease.

Bada has a four-layer architecture: kernel, device, service, and framework layers.

The kernel layer can be the Linux kernel or a real-time OS kernel, depending on the hardware configuration.

The device layer provides the core functions as a device platform, such as system and security management, graphics and windowing system, data protocols and telephony, as well as audio-visual and multimedia management.

The service layer provides service-centric functions that are provided by application engines and web-service components interconnecting with bada Server.

Only the framework layer can export the C++ open API. The framework consists of an application framework and functions exported by the underlying layers.

So Bada is a platform and the best one, of course.

but we have to be honest about one thing.its a complete OS.it combines something of Symbian, iOS and Android. the only thing that CAN get better is the App store.but lets give it some time, remember where Android was at the beginning>?we can see its limitations even today, which Bada doesnt have.all in all,a great phone.

I'm not saying Wave is bad, but how can you say Meego cant compete with Bada. Do you Know what is Bada.?? Its a upgraded version of touchwiz. In the first sight no one can tell difference between Wave, Galaxy S and Monte. Software wise both of three looks same. And have you even tried Meamo (N900).?? Before saying Meego cant compete with Bada first use N900 and then post opinion. Your post was totally childish.

Also no menti of any voice command capabilities of the phone any longer. Any inside information?

                                    Bada is just rocking.

                                    Its THE PERFECT OS.

If sammy continue to support Bada like they are doing now, mark my words, after 2 year it will have a significent amount of market share, and after 5 years it will even dominate.

Symbian, WinMo, Mac OS are all gurvage. I only can compare Android with Bada. But Wave equipped with Bada has far SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE than any Android, ever released..

                                    Heads down to Bada..

Bada, by its features and performance, made me its fan.
