Apple iOS 4 review: Getting there

25 June 2010
iPhone 4 launch day came and went and Number Four has taken over. Today, as the dust settles, we hope to move away from the hype and take a clear-headed look at what’s new in the iOS4. No, this isn’t a full-featured iPhone 4 review, nor is it...

Big hopes for WinMo7. Not Android and maybe not Symbian. After All Nokia will stop high end with Symbian.
Will be my first Apple products (when white available mid-july). After many Philips, Nokia and SonyEricsson products. Don't like Nokia anymore and would like high-end from SE but this company failed to make highend products or even update their actual products (Satio is finished, X10 so laaaate)
Now iPhone has photo FLASH (hope Xenon for iPhone5) and I can get it !
          Nice test :

It's like being offered DOS 6.22 when Windows 7 has been out for half a year.

Anonymous, 26 Jun 2010This is the latest biased review by gsmarena. Hey ppl why d... moreAnyone can have an opinion based on their needs and experiences with mobile phones.
I can agree with you that you do not need all these features though I doubt it. But then I cannot ask myself why paying so much money to buy a device that compared to the others on the market is limited by its own will on basic features.

And also I cannot ask myself why should I buy this phone if I cannot enjoy freely the gorgeous screen for example for watching movies in the main standard formats available but get stuck with iTunes and its standard required formats?

Think about buying a car that looks gorgeous, all the materials are top quality and costs 30,000 $ but having on it features of a 15,000 $ car. Would you still buy it? Eventually is also about money if you don't buy it only for your own image and ego.

And if you think I would not spend so much money on a phone, I have a Nokia N900 that costs unlocked as much as an iPhone should maximum cost but it is offering 10 times more features that should be included in such a device in 2010.

You must be kidding... No flash support in the web browser, no files transfer to other mobile phones via bluetooth, no SMS notification customization, come on man. these are the basic functions that a phone should have and iphone 4 doesnt have it. pity!!!

Little concerned about the 3G speed issue, but happy to say I just loaded the video on Flikr that somebody done and my IOS is at least as quick as the old IOS 3. I did a reboot before testing. I think its either certain setups or particular apps running. I had 3G turned off during the test. If its quick in some circumstances and not others (i.e. apps open etc.,) its a software conflict that will be sorted with an update.

Anybody else noticed that after updating to ios 4 there Iphone is running slower, the touch screen seems to be less responsive and some apps are now running slow and require the screen to touched two or three times to react. Hope apple bring out update to correct this and also update the apps to correct the problems of slow running and the need of touching screen more than once.

It's not because millions of people bought it, that it's a great product.

Millions buy tv-ad rubbish. Must be good, right? Right??

                            But still,
it's just too expensive! And too dependent on the iTunes.

You really can't compare apples with oranges. There's so much Apple sledging going on, that is ridiculous. Haven't you people got more to do with your lives? The millions of people using iPhones out there are testament to the device's success. Everywhere you go, you see iPhones, not HTC Desires. Not everyone wants or needs a phone that can launch a rocket and compute the secrets of the universe. Before the iPhone, I had not owned an Apple product besides the iPod. Having a Sony Ericsson and an iPod nano in one pocket wasn't the best feeling, so it just made sense to upgrade my handset to the iPhone 3GS when it became available. Not every Apple user is a fanboy. I have never used an HTC, so I do not care to put it down. Before putting down the iPhone, ask yourself this, have you ever experienced it for yourself?

Did they add the week's numbers to the calendar?(a mistake not acceptable).

My 3G runs quite smoothly with iOS4. Disregarding the blocked features for 3G iPhones, I'm happy with the update so far, except for the fact that the photos that were on my 3G before the update are not accessible anymore from the phone. They do not appear in the camera roll anymore, but when plugging the phone into iTunes, it states that there is 196.2Mb worth of photos stored on the phone.

I've managed to get them back, but no thanks to iTunes or Apple. I've read about others having this issue on Apple's support discussions website, but no solution was offered. No doubt there will be an update to iOS4 soon.
