I'm actually planning to buy this phone.. but I'm struck with 2 things at the moment..
1. The Web Browsers in Android 2.1 doesn't support the flashplayer.
2. Also the Android 2.1 doesn't allow the applications to be installed in Memory Card so the limitation that we have to install the applications on Phone Memory.
Upon going through the reviews of Android Froyo (newer version of OS) found that we can get rid of both the above mentioned problems..
but now the question lies whether the Galazy 3 is upgradeable to Android Froyo... because its said that Froyo works on 1Ghz processsor and the Galaxy 3 has 667Mhz processor ...
Any idea if the Galaxy 3 is gonna upgrade to Froyo ?????

I bought a Samsung Galaxy 5 recently...I rooted the device..installed a few more live wallpapers..Downloaded GPS Application which now works perfectly fine and is accurate...installed antivirus which provided advanced task manager to bring down unnecessary services to save battery..It has a 2 MP Camera with decent performance..I have been using it for 2 months now and never crashed / hanged.. Audio quality is nice..I feel this is the cheapest Android 2.1 phone with decent features..I love it..

it's a great phone! battery life is okay, I can do about two days with my battery, using it lightly, but I guess three days is possible to. Screen resolution is not great, but that's the only minor element. It's fast, good to handle, in one word, great for not very much money. Happy with it!

I was wondering why 'No free GPS navigation solution' comes up in the main disadvantages. Since google maps is installed, isn't it possible to use the gps feature for free? Or do you need an internetconnection to use the google maps program?

The claims about standby time are wildely exagerrated. My new I5800 can MUST be recharged every day, even when I'm not maiking any calls and very light use. It seems that the _actual_ battery standby time is just about 20 hours. Even after installing a task killer things do not improve measurably. Have this phone for 3 weeks now.

I'm typing this from the galaxy 3 at this very moment using swype. Excellent phone. Worth every penny. Only complaint is that I haven't been able to use the gps yet. Can't get a lock on my current position.

Murugesh, 29 Aug 2010Hi FOlks,
I bought this phone thinking it'll be better tha... moreDude i really am in doubt that you have the phone . I think you are just trying to spoil the brand image. Many of us in office including have brought this phone . Its isn't slow now does it drop calls.
I felt the phone is a real value for the money. I agree the screen resolution is a little bad but then in this price range can you think of any other better phone ?
Please give proper reviews about products. Its neither slow in any aspect if you compare to any other phone in this price range. Even the HTC wildfire is not comparable to this phone leaving aside the 5 mpx cam in HTC.
I would recommend this phone to everyone

Hi FOlks,
I bought this phone thinking it'll be better than my Samsung Spica. Its not what they claim it to be... THIS REVIEW IS AFTER I TRIED USING THE MOBILE FOR JUST TWO DAYS.
Battery : On 3G the back up was 11 hours of standby time with 45 minutes of talk time. Nowhere near
Stand-by Up to 620 h (2G) / Up to 510 h (3G)
Talk time Up to 15 h 30 min (2G) / Up to 7 h 15 min (3G).
The processor is so slow. I opened a website on the Samsung 3 along with my Spica. Samsung 3 took 90 second more than it took on the Spica. This phone has more RAM and ROM but is pathetically slow.
This is not only on GPRS but even on WIFI.
The calls get cut off very fast - I mean most times in 3 seconds flat.
This because the phone hangs / crashes a lot.
The screen resolution is BAAAD. Its like reading an OLD BADLY PHOTOCOPIED PAPER.
I bought this because of the newer OS (2.1) and thought it would be faster than the Older Samsung Spica which has Android OS Ver 1.5. The apps from Android Market is good but because the speed is so slow it doesnt seem good.
The camera is marginally better than the spica.
I was also disappointed that it didn't have Laptop tethering like Samsung Wave. Wave's tethering was very good and since this was released much after the WAVE I thought it would be standard feature on all future models.
The GPS is very slow too.
Overall, I feel that Samsung had made and released a mobile phone which is going to bring down Galaxy S because of it performance.
Hope Samsung will do something to rectify these mistakes and give an update soon.

My galaxy doesnt recognize phone numbers and addresses in google calendar. My old G1 would highlight them automatically and you could just tap them to dial or to map it.
I have looked but cant find a setting. any suggestion would be appreciated.
