08 October 2010
A modern smartphone OS needs to be balanced with excellent cloud services and draw on the cutting edge of software. The Windows Phone 7 OS is nothing like Win Mobile. The new UI is trendy, with a magazine look, and is incredibly...

If you don't like it you can pick WP7 or one of HTC phones anytime, both doesn't have secondary camera.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2010At least, it won't suck battery and resources like the suck... moreSymbian3 only have flashlite NOT full falsh 10.1. Android have DLNA, no need for hdmi. Android have true multitasking. Usb-host is pointless because nobody want to watch movies or edit files on a Symbian phone with only 360x640 resolution, usb-masstorage is more than enough for everyone.

Microsoft developed a version of Silverlight for Symbian OS. Why WP7 comes without Silverlight?

video calling is useful for me and many others, what's the point of having a "smartphone" with only voice calling?

Important points missed by this review... WP7 DOES in fact have multitasking. It is built on Windows CE 7.0 kernel. The "lack" of multitasking is actually apps must close their GUI when the user moves along, however threads can still run in the background (instant messaging, music playing, email checking, etc). The tombstoned apps can communicate via notifications (eg. their tile). This is actually a great feature because it fixes the instability, speed, battery issues found with WM.

The other major point misses is regular updates, small ones over the air and larger updates while syncing with your pc. So the missing features *at launch* can be implemented post-launch (some obvious major omissions such as handwriting and Asian language input write-off millions of sales units until implemented). Microsoft is not missing the deadline so they've taken this approach to get it into market now.

For an expensive high-end phone today Adobe Flash 10.1, and being able to connect as USB-masstorage, is minimum, so Windows Phone 7 OS fail completely.
Symbian and Windows Phone OS are both outdated OS and those who still buy these phones waste their money on crap, atleast compared to what they could buy with the same amount of money on an expensive high-end Android-phone (not a SE-phone though because SE are always more than 6, often more than 12, months behind the latest Android-version).
