Dear GSM Arena,
I know that keeping the browser constant has no effect on the comparative g, n technologies, but just to be curious, (Knowing that the N8's browser is outdated and about to change in a couple of weeks) what will happen if we re-run the test using Opera Mobile 10.1??
It would be GREAT to add another update!! I'm dying to hear- er... read about it!! Thanks

My Galaxy S is weak at picking signals on Wireless - G. Even right in from of the router, moving the phone up or down can reduce a bar in signal strength. Where my laptop gets good signal strength, my phone fails to connect. Sucks!

    Good work GSMA team!

      It's a confusing test indeed.
Did a test (WiFi) via speedtest.net on my phone (HTC Desire HD) and got thge following results:
      26.01 down - 9.59 up (Mb/s)- ping 20ms
Did a test via speedtest.net on my laptop and got:
      26.37 down - 22.90 up (Mb/s)- ping 10ms

I have a 300N wireless network at home and looked up a free channel (with Metageeks inSSIDer). Guess that does the trick?

I have a high speed internet sim card, used it in N8-00, hahahha its so incredible that it makes me confused, so fast man so fast, but as the internet traffic increases hahah of course the speed will decrease no mater what, or if you do not have full bars same thing, I mean common my internet is rated at 24 MPS hahahah I have seen it go up to three sometimes and that is all.

You know the thing is that its easy to manipulate with people since they do not know nor care enough to learn the technology they have, so it really becomes frustrating trying to explain at least basics so that they understand what is going on. Its so easy to forget all the goodies Nokia has out there for us, fm transmitter lets say man I mean wooow, now I tested new maps also and gps fix was incredible, besides that battery life is awesome. But the problem is that this device is compared with Iphone or Galaxy S which they really have nothing in common at all.

I really love your site, but have to say that I do not understand your test with N8-00 and results you get with it.I have N8-00 and its incredible. This is coming from a guy that have had almost every cell phone there is up to date. Now, this is not Iphone or Galaxy S nor the Wave this is Nokiaaaa, so if people do not understand this, than we do not need to comment no more. If you love apps then you go and buy Iphone or Galaxy S, but Connecting people remember that is Nokia. Non of the reviews say nothing about N8-00 games that come free with it nor they praise enough Nokia Maps. DOOOD when I had N95 8 gb it was better then having a laptop maaan. so lets not say or compare it with Iphone or Galaxy S, since it is what it is Nokia-Connecting People.

A big KUDOS to GSMARENA for mentioning the N8 and WPA2 crashing feature in their article. I had to set up a special router just for my N8!!! Bloody hilarious!!!

all these wireless n and bluetooth 3 are just crap. I have a samsung vibrant, and its wifi sucks, it keeps disconnectingh and failing to reconnect unless I restart my router, despite using wireless n standard. My nokias connected way better. Not to mention the bluetooth 3 gimmick, I tried sending a file from my vibrant to my friend's nokia n8, so both bluetooth 3 devices. it was a 5mb file, andit took 2minutes to send aka painfully slow.

first of all my best wishes to gsmarena for their continously showing unbiased attitude.day is not far when it will release its magazine and tvchannel.
Now very gud news for nokia specially n8 user and a bad news for its competitors.
nokia n8 did pretty good job and declare best performer in transferring of files over bluetooth 3.0,best downloading speed when 5m away from wifi router, and 2nd place when close to the router while downloading.you must feel great if u own N8.
Nokia shows what it pretend to be not like other manufacturer which have apple as their brand name.
Nokia N8 will remain undisputed rival of the smarthphone and is heading towards for creating history that will keep a special place in people in the coming years.
Happy new year to gsmarena and users in advance.enjoy the last day of 2010.

With objective articles like this, only a fool would doubt that gsmarena is the best mobile phone website. Not even that biased shi**y mobilerereview comes anyway close to gsmarena. Keep up the good work guys.

Tried this when phone came out, sending files via bluetooth 3 from my Wave S8500 to a colleagues S8500, and found exactly what your article has stated. Thought Apple had missed a trick not including BT3 on IPhone4, but after some digging around, I realised I should have known better.

I really liked this article. I've been trying to figure out the major advantages to using my WiFi network at home and the performance never increased that much. Espeically now T-Mobile has the HSPDA+ network. I had no idea about the Bluetooth 3.0 thing though that's kind of shocking in a way.

None the less I'm glad you guys did the work. My G2 dose not perform at some break neck speed under my N-Network (I use a high performance D-Link Gaming router). My Blackberry did a little bit, but it still wasn't anything to brag about, just helped with data heavy apps. I loved the article though, thanks again for the info.

802.11n both supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz band. In order, to fully support 802.11n in 5ghz (which is better than 802.11n in 2.4ghz), a smartphone should support a/n and b/g/n.

                                  5ghz advantages over 2.4

                                  a. More spectrum

                                  b. Better signal strength

                                  c. No interference

                                  d. Longer ranges

I hope smartphones would support the 5ghz band. 2.4ghz is getting crowded with more devices connecting to it.
