Nokia E7 review: Open for business

02 March 2011
Business as usual for the Eseries is a cliché – thank you very much. But the kind that makes the world feel right. The Nokia E7 could’ve been just another Eseries phone. Oh well, that wasn’t meant to be. The latest is implicitly the greatest but, in the...

It also contains letters that are rarely used in other languages than German (Umlaute): Ä, Ö, Ü. If you do a quick Google Image search and compare the pictures here with the press photos (which show the English keyboard layout) you can see that a few interpunction characters were moved somewhat...

Apparently, unlike N8, E7 does not have the FM Transmitter feature. I suggest scrapping the info from the "Key Features" on Page 1.

[deleted post]The E71 met all these requirements (except maybe the lousy mail client). Still looking for a suitable replacement for my (now aging) E71.

now thinkin about trading my N8 for E7...its only the camera m worried about...i dnt care about the card slot and FM trancmittr,m happy with my onboard FM and inbuilt 16gb is more than enough for me...love the 4" cbd amoled and slide out qwerty of E7 !!!

Also, the full Office support out-of-the box, the physical keyboard and USB On-the-go are really usefull for business purposes.
However, if you still think that this phone is not really usefull as a business phone, you should hurry and tell that to a business guy, maybe he will listen to you!

After over 6 pages and nobody seemed to be able to answer my first question: how "business" is this phone justifies its premium over its own N8? Just the keyboard costs over US$180?

Look at the E7 on the iPhone 4 side, the E7 looks sooo amazing and far more "high-tech" that the iPhone 4, so bad that the software doesn't make this phone justice and it doesn't look so amazing when it's turned on.

After 15 years with Nokia phones is time to say good bye OR i must buy 10 pieces of e72 to use all my life. If Nokia is considering that E7 is a business phone then they have a huge problem. The business people don't need a game-boy with touchscreen, for sure Nokia will lose many "crazy fans". I think my future phone will be a blackberry.

I like this phone but the price is just too high to be "hit" in the market. Nokia keeps on putting high prices on Symbian devices, but we all know that the OS is not competitive enough. Symbian devices sell due to their affordable prices and good range of features. And with the MS+Nok partnership, people would probably think twice before investing on this device.

All the Android users have in their advantage is the number of apps. In a business phone, you don't need the 200000+ apps the android market has to offer. All you need, as a business phone user, is already installed on the phone so you don't even need to buy them anymore. And about the camera, you think a business-man uses his phone camera to take pictures? Don't expect an E series phone to satisfy every user. The E-series is a specific branch of products. Business aimed products.

i have now been the owner of an e7 for the past week. Previous to that i have a nexus one and a htc legend. I can honestly say that i have owned a phone running each major os and to be honest cant find a lot wrong with the e7 or symbian. Its been ages since ive had a phone which could last approx 2 1/2 days with constant mail sync and a moderate ammount of phone calls, texts and web browsing.
With the exception of the camera and web browser i think it is an awesome phone. Build quality is amazing. Call quality is great, gps lock is pretty quick and very accurate, there are actually a lot of apps available on ovi store you just need to look a little harder to find them lol.
You can put new themes on the phone should you want to customise it and seperate your apps into folders.Video playback is great and the screen despite the lower resolution is excellent in bright daylight.
I was very sceptical about returning back to symbian but have no regrets what so ever. I look forward to all future updates which will only make a great phone even better.
