Nokia E7 review: Open for business

02 March 2011
Business as usual for the Eseries is a cliché – thank you very much. But the kind that makes the world feel right. The Nokia E7 could’ve been just another Eseries phone. Oh well, that wasn’t meant to be. The latest is implicitly the greatest but, in the...

For something at that price range, people expect a higher resolution screen. I like some aspects of the E7, but not at its current price.

No, and neither does the iphone browser. Do you complain about that issue on Apple products as well?

nHD might sound inadequate for a phone from this price, but remember that iPhone 3GS lived with alot lower resolution (480x320) and even with a 3.5" screen, nHD at 4" got far more pixel density, and well... iPhone 3Gs was not really cheap you know, and there were alot of HVGA screens already, so nHD is not really bad, I guess most people point it just to fault the phone.

You'll notice the lower resolution on images, but I don't think it is going to be that much of an issue. If you want to see more detail, you can always zoom in.

No, it doesn't. And it's something that needs implementing on the new browser when it is eventually released. That's another reason I prefer the iphones browser over my N8's.

It's certainly something I wouldn't consider. I'd rather download a video or two to watch on journeys.

I don't think the resolution is much of a problem at all, considering the capabilities of the CB display. The N73 had a larger display than the N80 and it didnt affect the viewing pleasure although that was on a much smaller scale.

Flash 10.1 is an essential part of browsing today, and flash-ads are no problem because you can choose to enable flash "on-demand" when the user wants to, and rootd Androids can use AdFree Android that removes all ads.

Back to the E7. It's browser should be better thanks to the extra processor speed and screen real estate. It's a shame that a lot of people will be put off by this review, simply because of the perceived notion that Symbian is on it's way out. GSM Arena have not helped by repeating this opinion so many times in this review.

It basically says "Don't buy this phone as it's DOOMED!" Heh.
