Nokia E6 hands-on: First look

12 April 2011
The E6 is Nokia’s latest business offer and it has just landed in our office. It’s the company’s first smartphone running the new Symbian Anna OS out of the box. The E6 is a touch phone with a QWERTY keyboard and it even has a higher pixel density than the iPhone’s Retina display...

like i have always said whatever features that a phone may have, its battery life is very important. Unless you dont mind being connected to a power source most of the time. But these are mobile phones and should deliver considerable uptime outdoors for even the basic phone functions. I would consider battery life before anything else

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2011What is your method of calculation DPI? I calculated 325.2 ... moreExactly but apple fanboys have failed to see this logic for ages citing over and over (almost like a brainwashed tape recording of apples pr) about how this affects their small iphone screen in comparison to a screen of say 4.3 inchs where the effect is actually noticeable

'What we have here is a pre-release E6 prototype and you should by no means judge the performance or features of the future retail product based on what you see or read here. Consider this article more of a tech demo than anything else.'

HAHA the most obvious change in the retail version is definitely the font!

strange that the E6 isn't exactly out yet but GSMA already got a pre/review, while the Motorola (Droid) Pro has been around for months but not a single pre/review is available.

Very sad to see GSMA continues to review maybe 1 Motorola (or other brands other than Samsung/HTC) for every 10 (if not 100!) almighty brand phones...well knowing the latter is going down the drain.

aargh!!! im getting fkd up!!! cant this nokia stop producing 8mp with useless fixed focus? rather make 5mp autofocus!!!i prefer latter. but fixedfocus is useless to take photos of text and any printed matter thats quite small which is MOST useful for students and businessmen so that they can take quick clicks at documents. what a wasted feature!! nokia everything else is PERFECT! just the camera sucks.. im not happy with it..

"We managed to take accurate measures of both screens and calculated the pixel densities of both – they turned out 326ppi for the Retina display and 328ppi for the Nokia E6 display."

I am interested in how they took the accurate measures. For 640x480 screen

                                    328 ppi = 2.439"
                                    326 ppi = 2.454"

Now the screen size is 2.46". So the pixel density for E6 should be 326 ppi if not lower.

What is your method of calculation DPI? I calculated 325.2 PPI, not 328 Even so, such a high DPI on such a small screen really has no face value.

whenever they say "DEAD END" for Symbian, it should be accompanied with "...but UPGRADEABLE to WINDOWS PHONE 7".
