Many people here don't seem to understand that though the N9 doesn't have any applications of its own so as to speak, it is an open source device and has Qt support. Also, with an application called alien dalivk, it is capable of running android apps.

Now to the point of comparing it to the SGSII. The SGSII is an amazing smartphone but the fact is that though it touts a dual core processor, it only uses about 40% of its actual power. If it ran on 100%, it would over heat and the battery would drain very fast.It's like a cheetah, it can run fast, but only at short bursts. An about the UI being better than harmattan, you can see clearly in the videos that harmattan is simple and to the point. It's less convuluted than android and light-years ahead of touchwiz.

The only place where dual cores can actually compete is gaming, but that isn't a big factor because the games that are on the market right now run perfectly well on single core 1 ghz processors and even if they make super-graphic intensive games, it would be quite a waste, because the extra money you spend on buying a dual-core droid can actually be spent on buying an actual gaming device.

        hey all of you android,apple fanboys nokia has once again showed its brilliance in design...its shame that your android powered devices and apple devices are no near to its shadow..
        well well i agree that today android boom is on its peak...but never forget that symbian has ruled for over 10 years and we have to wait and see what will be androids reign period as other OSes are on their way to make big on smartphone industry such as meego,webos

          First off, We all know Elop is still working for MS. I mean who uses Bing over Google search? Bing has even been charged for stealing their searches from Googles Search engine. Bing = Uber Fail, that is FACT.
          Second thing, This may be my Last Nokia phone. With Meego, I'm a bigger supporter of Intel and LG because they for sure will support Meego.
          The decisions Elop and Co have been making at Nokia have pushed me away from the company and towards companies that support the OS that I support.
          If Nokia decides to support Meego afterall, then I'll be happy to keep supporting them but if not then I'll have to go to a company that will support what I support.

              Anonymous, 01 Jul 2011I prefere the Samsung Galaxy S2 1 billion times over this p... moreAndroid is under pressure of MS: HTC is paying 5$/phone, Samsung will probably pay 10$/phone for IP.
              The other point: Meego let you build apps in any language (Android: just java) so you you can pick in the free software libraries and just adapt the UI with Qt.
              Third point: Nokia was, with Apple, the only manufacturer able to build the hardware and the software. Now, they are just a phone maker among others with a platform about which nobody is sure it will succeed!

                When we know:
                1) they drastically reduced the OS development team;
                2) SElop want Meego to stay in second place;
                you just balance between two conclusions:
                - this man hasn't the perception and the vision of a leader;
                - he is working for MS in an unknown way.
                The european shareholder are responsible of this situation.

                    so far im preety impressed with the new nokia, and if be keen to get it as well as soon as it comes out in AUS, but have small issue, and i dunno if anyone can shed some light on it...
                    my current fone is n8, and i LUV it...had no issues...and unassisted gps, and camera, HDMI out and MiniUSB input...to me makes it brilliant...im waiting for update od Symbian ANNA to come out...
                    so far though...only one question regarding N8 and N9...flash...most of my photos i take in clubs...so far..
                    even though N9 got only 8MP...how is the flash...is it as good as N8...on 5800 i had twinLED for flash...and that was useless in night...
                    if N9 has the same flash as N8 or as good as N8...id be keen to buy it...if not...N8 still remains my No1 choice :)

But every considerable manufacturer has it's own UI implemented into the phone. So why would google deny Nokia something it is freely allowing to most, if not all, manufacturers?

                                And regarding the applications? every John Doe that knows how to code is able to make applications for android, I don't see how Nokia actual engineers wouldn't be able to.

                                  It's a shame for the N9... another wonderful phone that is going to fail because nokia doesn't want it to shine. Just like nokia n900, a phone I had and loved, but I had to leave it because Nokia wouldn't give a sh1t about it and it had no support at all.
