never did understand why people find their way into BB land and crib crib crib.
we like BB and we do not mind paying for what we love.
if you dont like it please move one :)
and stop the negativity

As a non-business user who still sends lots of SMS and emails, this device class is interesting, but has some issues.
The E6 is the only of the bunch with a useful camera, but has little to offer app-wise.
The 9900's camera simply is not good, and apps are to expensive. The keyboard is the best though.
The Droid Pro seems to take forever to come to Europe, but although apps aren't the issue here, the screen's res is too low. And the cam is probably the worst of the bunch.
The B7800 looks promising, but it's a sort of compromise: cam probably not as good as the E6, but better than the Bold's and Pro's. And the screen res below what Nokia and RIM offer.
Why use a keyboard touch phone with a smaller screen anyway? Frankly, because even with neither the precise on screen keyboard of the iPhone, nor SwiftKey, Swype, nor SlideIT, you can type as good if you're not into heavy app adjusting. And big touch screens mean less runtime, of course.
Thus in my opinion, apart from the pure business guys, these phones have a user base, but as I'm one one those myself, I have to say they took to long for me to the market. I now use a Samsung Galaxy S II, and though I'm offended by having to load up the battery daily (on heavy usage at full brightness), I'm fine with it, though not without longing for a more tactile feedback: Indivual vibration areas on the touch screen anyone? Or what about a combo design like with the old Sony Ericsson P800/P900 series? Finally, sliders like the Torch or the Dell Venue Pro are for this interesting, aren't they?

AnonD-8542, 21 Sep 2011I got to agree with you on this. BB has its strength but we... moreNice one..
i use my sgs2 for social use,
yet i own 9900 for my business number.
for those amount of cash, would i ever consider Nokia phone? Never!
boring design, boring tech? i believe he never hold 9900 next to cheap E6, not even a contest.
(maybe he's just jealous, couldn't afford one)
why those childish Nokia fan even bothered to leave comments here are beyond me..
they should be worrying about their own sinking future..
& pray hard that Microsoft can save them from going bust entirely

aasim, 21 Sep 2011most comments are irrelevant because most of the people who... moreI got to agree with you on this. BB has its strength but weak argument in forum because most of its bb-lievers would not bothered to leave a comment here. The problem with having such business minded clientele though, is that most of them just want something very reliable and are not very keen to upgrade every time a new model comes out, unlike an Apple fan who absolutely must have the latest model. As much as RIM want to they could not sell more to these customers but I guess they earn well enough vis BIS.

a great phone really.
yes, the battery could have been better but there is no comparison when it comes to inactivity of this comparing to recently released nokias etc.
the email also is unbeatable (especially the corporate email). people in corporate want speed and want things to get done on time. also the BBM is a great feature and if you are in a community where many users have BBs then the BB will be a perfect fit.
the new screen with added features are great. the price is too expensive? well, they are offering it here for 50% off with one year contract which is not a bad thing so i got one for my wife and im about to get mine through work as im due for an upgrade.
i tried the E6 and it looked and felt lousy. this is what i dont like about recent nokias + android phones...they may be full of features but very clumsy and complicatd to use at times...
for those nokia lovers you must look at why nokia has been losing market share over recent years....BB has infact grown in sales even if market share has gone down...
there is no question that for a professional person, the BB is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of using corporate emails, which is the most important thing for corporate people and the related security needed for corporate emails which again, BB is tops.

Sorry Computer posted Before. Even tho it was a very good review i feel that two other problems wasnt told. One: Even tho the touch screen is good the top buttons are to close to the screen, evyting u use the track pad u catch the bottom of the touch screen. Two: Prob the biggest, even tho they have giving you 8gb on the phone they have only giving you 200mb......MB to download apps and games.

Is it confirmed that the Blackberry Bold 9900 supports wifi hotspot/tethering? As far as I know, it isn't, yet.

There's an issue with the screen. It's keeping turning off the light of itself when opening the menu. I guess the problem is on the proximity sensor driver like in iphone 4...

What the hell, how can they price it as high as a Galaxy S II ?
Lets be honest, this thing is smashed by the Nokia E6, the E6 also will be getting Symbian Belle which demolishes anything Blackberry UI designers will ever come up with in this form factor.

Never used a BB before, but this phone is a waste of money. It costs USD $650 off contract in Malaysia, with that kind of crap specs. The Nokia E6 is only $350 in Malaysia off contract and it has more to offer, including better camera and multimedia capabilities. Since cams of both BB9900 and E6 are fixed focus, that makes E6's cam bettr.
People who buys Qwerty phones are not into multimedia and gaming i assume, so multitasking on E6's mere 680MHz processor is not a problem. My N8 on Anna now is very smooth even while multitasking.

most comments are irrelevant because most of the people who are commenting have not used BB with BES/BIS. It simply is not meant for everyone; that should be clear to the users. It is mainly meant for corporate users. A phone which is used by the most powerful person in the world; so there must be something in it.
When it comes to corporate emails/accessing corporate intranet without fearing about security and hacking; the only phonemaker you can trust is RIM; PERIOD.

AnonD-12555, 20 Sep 2011I always liked BB's and this one looks great! Camera doesn'... morevery few features require bis. you can have an email app without bis, strictly on 3g or even wifi. I use hotmail with my bb. also facebook and twitter is fine without bis. you need bis for the bb map app, but you can download other map apps... it is fine without bis if you are not a total stranger to phones. what you won't have is bbmessenger. I couldn't care less though as sms is there and facebook chat is there....

the only thing that i agreed on the disadvantages list is no autofocus camera.
baffled actually, when older bolds all have autofocus,
9900 has macro mode, etc but no autofocus?
dont care about other disadvantages though.
